"You Got Some Insecurities": Candace Parker Comments on Caitlin Clark's All-Star Voting Result

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark makes her third consecutive appearance as a WNBA All-Star starter, but best believe that her peers tried their best to stop it, and WNBA legend Candace Parker would be in favor of that statement.

This year, Clark finished second in fan voting, third in media voting, and eleventh (!) in player voting. Parker was shocked and upset by this voting and vented on the Post Moves podcast about the players disrespecting Clark.

"I think people need to look at themselves in the mirror and realize, like, man, you’ve got some insecurities if you’re sitting down and putting Caitlin Clark as the eleventh best guard.”

Parker also compared this to her time as a player when she had to vote for her peers. While she was not a fan of Diana Taurasi, one of the greatest players in WNBA history and the all-time leading scorer, she was not going to snub her as Clark's peers did.

This is not the first time Clark has been snubbed by her peers, as she was ranked ninth last year in the voting as well. Granted, Clark played only 13 games in her sophomore year, but that is not the case this time around.

Clark ranks fourth in points and second in assists per game across the league with 21.2 and 8.2, respectively. Those are not numbers put up by the league's eleventh-best guard.

As Parker claims that the current players who rank Clark too lowly are being insecure and show a level of jealousy, such instances also shed a bad light on the credibility of the All-Star voting.

Why the WNBA Players Refused to Vote for Caitlin Clark

While All-Star voting can become biased and borderline comical when players choose to vote for their teammates or friends, it becomes a real issue when a top player gets purposefully disrespected.

Clark has been a polarizing player around the WNBA for both things she’s done and things completely outside of her control.

Parker's jealousy assessment comes to mind, as Clark usually gets credit for the league taking many steps forward in success over the past three years.

Parker is one of the most respected voices around the league, and her being in support of Clark means something.

In the end, the player voting did not account for much as Caitlin Clark rightfully ended up as an All-Star starter and will now have the opportunity to prove her peers wrong at the July 25 All-Star Game held in Chicago.

So, what do you think is the main reason the players snubbed Caitlin Clark in the voting? Let us know in the comments.
