Serena and Venus Williams will reunite on the doubles court at the 2026 US Open. The sisters received a wild card for the women’s doubles championship.

The sisters also received a wild card for Wimbledon. However, they withdrew before their first-round match after Serena suffered a knee injury during her singles campaign.
The official US Open Tennis account announced the news on X. The Williams sisters later played together at the Cincinnati Open. Marta Kostyuk and Peyton Stearns defeated them in the first round.

The announcement excited fans who have watched the Williams sisters play together for many years.
According to Adam Zagoria of Forbes, Serena will not play in the US Open singles draw. She returned to singles at Wimbledon after almost four years away from the sport. However, Maya Joint defeated her in the first round.
Venus, meanwhile, received a wild card for the singles draw. Her recent results have also faced criticism. Serena has also returned to mixed doubles. She recently teamed up with Carlos Alcaraz at the US Open and reached the quarterfinals.
Fans react to the Williams Sisters’ wild card
Under the same X post by the US Open Tennis, fans gave varied reactions. Many fans were happy to see the two legends return, while others questioned the wild card decision.

“Sorry, but this is a sideshow perhaps intended to bring attention to doubles matches. However, I don’t think the sisters stand a chance of making it anywhere near the finals. ....”, a fan reacted.
Another fan found it surprising to see the former champions receive a wild card after dominating the sport for so many years.
“It’s crazy to see them as a wildcard for all the years they ran the sport”, another fan wrote.
One emotional fan saw their return as a sign of hard work and determination.
“...Seeing these two 'Legends' Venus and Serena Williams play tennis is not just a wild card; I believe that it's a testament of what a person can become if they persevere with optimism!!”, an emotional fan wrote.
However, some fans questioned whether the wild card should have gone to younger players.
One fan asked: “Why? Aren’t there more deserving, up-and-coming players you could give a wild card to?”
Other fans were simply happy to see the sisters together again and welcomed the family moment.
“I love when a sport brings family together!!! Go Williams!”, a fan said.
The Williams sisters’ return has divided fans, but their presence will bring excitement, memories, and attention to the 2026 US Open doubles event.
