Caitlin Clark has added another milestone to her resume after being featured on the cover of the latest NBA 2K game, but Sports Illustrated's Grant Young is here to tell you that it is a bigger deal than we know.
According to Young, while this is not the first time a WNBA player has been featured on the cover of an NBA 2K game (mentioning the likes of Candace Parker, Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Angel Reese, Sabrina Ionescu, and A'ja Wilson), Clark's case is different.
"All those previous players appeared on the game's WNBA edition which is a separate version of the NBA 2K entirely and focuses specifically on the WNBA."
"But Clark is on the deluxe edition, which is one of the three main flagship copies that's sold globally alongside the standard and ultra editions. In other words, this is the first time a WNBA player has been one of the three main flagship NBA 2K covers." Young said on his social media.

In simpler words, every other WNBA cover star had been featured on a league-specific variant of the game, while Clark is headlining a global cover and is the first WNBA player to receive that honor.
The NBA 2K27 Deluxe Edition will cost $99.99, which is part of the game's flagship release, alongside the Standard ($69.99) and Ultra ($149.99) editions.
“Being on the cover of NBA 2K27 is special because this game reaches fans all over the world,” Clark said in a statement. “To be the first WNBA player on her own global cover means women’s basketball gets to show up on that stage too, and I am proud to be part of that.”
And just in her very next game, Clark has backed up her cover star status with another incredible performance.
Caitlin Clark's Successful First Game as 2K's Latest Cover Star
Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever kept their momentum rolling on Wednesday night with a 123-88 win against the Connecticut Sun.
The new 2K27 cover star led the way with 27 points and 11 assists, securing another double-double in what is forming to be a historic third year in the league.
The Fever also had the biggest half in franchise history when they led 70-46 at the break. It was the third-highest scoring game in league history without overtime.
Now comes the WNBA All-Star weekend, and 2K27's latest star, who was voted the eleventh-best guard by her peers, has a chance to settle the score on July 25 in Chicago.
So, how many points do you think Caitlin Clark will score in the All-Star Game? Let us know in the comments.
