Kelsey Plum's move to Phoenix hasn't worked out, but for four teams, she could be the missing piece. The five-time WNBA All-Star is on her way to becoming a free agent again.

Plum's Phoenix move hasn't been ideal, as she has played only 17 games and is now out for the season due to a lower-left leg and calf injury. Similarly, early injuries with the Sparks complicated her path.

However, Plum Dawg still has it. For a team, the veteran can be the start of a rebuild, the ideal option to bolster attack, or, in the end, she could stay where she is. It’s crucial for her to make the right career move this time around. 

According to FanSided’s Justin Carter, these are the four teams where Plum could have a fresh start.

4. Phoenix Mercury

The Phoenix Mercury acquired the five-time All-Star guard to form a core alongside Alyssa Thomas and Kahleah Copper. In fact, they gave up a first-round pick for Plum. 

Although the calf injury hasn’t helped the franchise, they will likely try to retain Plum. It wouldn’t be much of a fresh start for her, though. The aging Mercury roster doesn’t have championship upside. However, the franchise has clearly shown their interest in Plum with the trade earlier this year. 

3. Seattle Storm

Signing with the Seattle Storm would mirror her move to the Los Angeles Sparks. The veteran could add much-needed experience to their young squad, which is arguably the worst in the league this season. 

Plum’s backcourt scoring punch could very well complement the young frontcourt of Dominique Malonga and Awa Fam. Once a college star at the University of Washington, a move to Seattle would be special for Plum. 

2. Golden State Valkyries

The Golden State Valkyries lack a go-to scoring threat, and Plum could be exactly that. However, it all depends on how the Valkyries’ postseason unfolds. 

If Golden State struggles with its mediocre offense, Plum could emerge as a go-to option for them. However, the veteran could also open up their defense. In that case, the Valkyries have enough cavalry to balance it out. 

1. Washington Mystics

Kelsey Plum could be the final piece in the jigsaw for the Washington Mystics. The trio of Sonia Citron, Shakira Austin, and Kiki Iriafen could really complete themselves with an on-ball guard who can create opportunities for the attack. 

Although Plum’s presence could weaken the Mystics’ defense, in a combo guard role beside Georgia Amoore, she could turn out as the game changer.
