If Indiana Fever’s August 17 95-91 OT win over the Atlanta Dream wasn’t entertaining enough, the cameras caught yet another Caitlin Clark-Angel Reese moment. But fans pointed fingers at Fever star Aliyah Boston instead.
It all started when the Dream star missed a game-winning layup, prompting Clark to let out a visible chuckle as she walked towards her bench. In a recent episode of the PostMoves podcast, former WNBA star Candace Parker brought up the incident, and Boston said what she said.
“We saw it after,” Boston said. “In real time, you see nothing, but we saw it after, and I was like, ‘here we go’… Like, peace, love & happiness. We will never be free!”

Now, this adds to the famous on-court rivalry Reese and Clark have had going on for a long time, notably Reese’s “you can’t see me” gesture at Clark during the 2023 NCAA championship.
Although the recent incident can easily pass as one of the top 2026 WNBA memes, fans didn’t quite like Boston’s reaction.
Fans Erupted on Aliyah Boston
The Indy fans don’t need to be told about the recent dramas surrounding the Fever. Sophie Cunningham pointed at DeWanna Bonner; Paige Bueckers hit Clark with a "calm down" gesture. Boston's remark probably hinted at the pattern, but fans didn't buy it.
“Aaliyah doesn't have her own teammates' backs. I hate folks that play the fence. Peace, love and happiness? This is competition. She smoked a layup. Y'all won the game. lol show some fire, hold ya teammates down. Lol,” wrote a fan.
Earlier this month, Parker and Boston tossed out CC from their potential MVP picks, which didn’t strike a good chord with the fans. The latest incident only fueled fans' conclusion that Boston can’t be a good teammate to Clark and needs to go.
“Boston isn't built to be CC's teammate...The Fever should be doing all they can to trade her for one of those Seattle big girls this offseason,” wrote one. Another added, “Can’t stand these two. Aliyah needs to go somewhere.”
But some fans defended Boston, claiming that as a player, she’s supposed to play the game and not focus on the sideshow. It has nothing to do with not having her teammates’ backs.
“Fever players: Let's focus on basketball. Fever fans: Aaliyah needs to focus on the sideshow,” they wrote. Another added, “You people cry about everything.”
For two years, Boston’s frontcourt anchoring and screening have gelled with CC too well to call her an unfit teammate. But the recent incident, though funny, leaves some questions about their relationship.
