WNBA fans can’t stop talking about Angel Reese’s rare shooting night vs. Sparks

Angel Reese made WNBA history on Thursday night, delivering a perfect shooting performance to lead the Atlanta Dream to a 124-88 blowout victory over the Los Angeles Sparks at Crypto.com Arena.

It earned her a lot of love from WNBA fans on and off the court for a perfect 9-for-9 shooting night.

According to a post by DraftKings Sports on X, Reese joined an elite club of players with notable regular-season 100% shooting nights.

It includes Kamilla Cardoso's 13-for-13 game against Portland on June 26, Nneka Ogwumike's 12-for-12 night against Dallas in 2016, Seimone Augustus' 11-for-11 performance against Los Angeles in 2007, and now Reese's 9-for-9 masterpiece against the Sparks.

Only 12 players have shot 100% from the field on 9+ attempts in WNBA history.

Reese also finished the game with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists, per the same DraftKings Sports post on X.

Per Real App, Reese became the first player in WNBA history to record at least 20 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists while shooting 100% from the field.

According to ESPN Insights, she is also just the third player in league history to post a 20-point double-double without missing a single shot.

Reese was completely dominating from the very first whistle. In the first quarter, she recorded six points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals to help Atlanta's 34-12 lead over the Sparks.

By halftime, Reese had 18 points on 8-for-8 shooting, along with five rebounds and five assists.

After draining one of her deep shots, Reese turned to the crowd, covered her mouth, waved, and posed with her back to the stands as the Dream bench erupted in celebration.

She kept producing throughout the game.

Fans can't stop talking about Reese's historic night

Fans started reacting to the performance, linking it to past stories, old partnerships, and major rivalries.

“The Skyscrapers are still connected,” one fan added after looking at the list of perfect shooting nights.

The list featured Reese alongside her former Chicago Sky teammate, Kamilla Cardoso. Long before Reese wore an Atlanta jersey, she and Cardoso were nicknamed 'the Skyscrapers' in Chicago.

One fan added, "The Skyscrapers should have never been broken up."

On April 6, 2026, Chicago traded Reese to Atlanta in exchange for the Dream's 2027 and 2028 first-round picks, plus the rights to swap second-round picks in 2028. It split 'the Skyscrapers' duo apart.

"Chicago Sky couldn’t make it work lmao," added one fan.

Despite having two young star frontcourt players, Chicago struggled to build around them. They finished 13-27 in 2024, and then fell to 10-34 in 2025.

One fan shared a photo of Angel Reese alongside her new Atlanta teammate, Naz Hillmon, and wrote: "My girls shining so bright."

The two frontcourt stars have formed a close bond in Atlanta. Reese even popularized their nickname, the 'Thunder Twins,' after several games this season.

"Where is the face of the WNBA?? The best shooter ever?" asked one fan after Reese's historic night.

For two seasons, critics pointed to her shooting percentage and argued her game lacked touch outside of offensive rebounds.

Against the Sparks, seven of her baskets came from right inside the paint, while her other two came from way beyond the arc.

So, now, there was no need for Reese to answer her critics after Thursday's game. Her stat line did it for her.
