On the verge of serving a one-game suspension following her eighth technical foul of the season, Caitlin Clark can now take a sigh of relief now that the WNBA rescinded her foul, although she felt that was coming.
During the third quarter of the Fever's 90-86 win against the Chicago Sky, Clark picked up her eighth technical foul of the season after bumping into referee Genesis Perrymond on the baseline.
Per league rules, a player who incurs eight technical fouls in a season gets handed an automatic one-game suspension. However, Clark was confident that the league office would rule in her favor after Fever GM Amber Cox promptly filed an appeal.
"I'm hoping it's getting rescinded, Holly. I'll see you on Tuesday." Clark told reporter Holly Rowe. "She said I ran into her. I've already watched it on the tape, so we'll let the league decide. It wasn't intentional or anything."

This is not the first time the Fever have attempted to get a technical foul lifted for their court general. They have appealed twice before, getting rejected both times.
Regardless, it looks like third time's the charm, as Clark got her wish. Even Fever head coach Stephanie White was not too thrilled about how the technical foul was called and handled.
“That’s a bad call, incidental contact when you’re flying out of control,” White said.
“I thought her teammates should have come up and talked to her about that as well. I think that’s really bad. That (expletive) happens all the time in the game. you know, officials have to have some awareness in those moments, and it didn’t happen.”
Apart from the foul scare, it was usual business for Clark alongside her partner-in-crime, Kelsey Mitchell.
Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell's Backcourt Partnership is One to Watch Out For
The Indiana Fever's offensive firepower mainly comes from the backcourt duo of Clark and Mitchell, and the two were at it again against the Chicago Sky on Saturday.
Clark and Mitchell helped the Fever notch their 20th win of the season, as the former scored 26 points, while the latter scored 27 points.
During their post-game interview, the former Ohio State standout discussed how her relationship with Clark continues to flourish.
“We take our bond serious,” Mitchell said. “We like to think that our backcourt comes from love for one, and I think I want her to be great and vice versa. So a lot of it is just love and energy, honestly.”
Clark and Mitchell usually account for more than half of the Fever's points in a game, and with 12 games remaining, they can help the Fever climb up the rankings further and gain momentum ahead of the playoffs.
Clark will be back in action against the New York Liberty at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse, followed by another big game against the Dallas Wings.
So, do you think the Indiana Fever's offense can carry them to the WNBA Finals? Let us know in the comments.
