Who Are Caitlin Clark's Parents? Meet the Family Behind WNBA's Superstar

Caitlin Clark’s latest great performance once again showed why she is one of the biggest stars in the WNBA. On Wednesday night, the Indiana Fever star scored 27 points and made 11 assists in a 123-88 win over the Connecticut Sun.

The win also set a new franchise record. Clark also made five three-pointers as the crowd at Gainbridge Fieldhouse stayed excited from the start of the game until the final buzzer.

But behind Clark’s success is a family that supported and guided her long before she became a professional player. Her story starts with her parents, Brent Clark and Anne Nizzi-Clark.

They played an important role in helping her develop both her basketball skills and her character. Brent was a college athlete at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.

He played both basketball and baseball during his college years. Later, he became Executive Vice President at Concentric International, an industrial equipment company based in Des Moines, Iowa. He also became Caitlin’s first basketball coach.

Anne also comes from a sports family. According to Skyler Caruso of People Magazine, she is the maternal granddaughter of Bob Nizzi, a well-known football coach at Dowling Catholic High School.

Anne previously worked as Vice President of Product Marketing at American Enterprise Group, Inc. Today, she works as a director of the Caitlin Clark Foundation and handles strategic partnerships for CC22 Ventures, LLC.

How Brent and Anne Kept Caitlin Clark Grounded

During an interview with John Mallory at Talks at GS, Caitlin said the biggest impact Brent and Anne had on her was not just teaching her basketball. They also taught her to keep basketball in the right place in her life.

Clark has talked about how her parents protected her from the attention she started getting when she was very young.

Clark recalled, “They would tell my older brother when we got home from school, like you need to go get the mail first because colleges were sending me letters… they never told me about any of that stuff. They just wanted me to enjoy my childhood”.

She also said that her parents expected her to focus on school and being a good person.

She said, “Basketball is something you got to do because you’re a good student and person.”

Clark also remembered that her parents sometimes kept her out of games when she fought with her brothers. They also wanted Caitlin and her siblings to try different activities instead of making basketball their whole life.

She has thanked her parents for “guarding” her and helping her deal with the pressure and problems that came with becoming a basketball star. This balance helped Clark grow as both a player and a person.

Brent and Anne’s influence goes far beyond basketball. They gave Caitlin the support to become a great player while also helping her stay connected to the values she learned at home.
