The Atlanta Dream dropped their fifth straight game on Saturday, falling to the Golden State Valkyries 83-88. Yet center Angel Reese refused to panic, insisting her team will bounce back.
On July 4, Golden State completed a 3‑0 season sweep of Atlanta, with the two teams meeting three times in the Dream’s last five games. Despite continuous losses, Reese was confident that her team would figure it out.
"We have a lot of time until our next game. So spend some time together, being at home, enjoying each other is something that we're gonna do, but we're not down," Reese said, via ClutchPoints’ Malik Brown on X. "We're not down, and this team is used to winning."
Atlanta now has a week off before facing the Seattle Storm on July 9. The Dream endured a brutal stretch in June, playing six games in 10 days, followed by two more in the first two days of July. Reese believes the break will help reset the team.
She emphasized that adversity can strengthen the locker room, urging teammates to treat the upcoming stretch before All‑Star Weekend as “sacred.”
Atlanta plays five games before July 23 against Seattle Storm, Portland Fire, LA Sparks, Toronto Tempo and the Chicago Sky.
The losing streak wasn’t the only disappointment. The WNBA announced its 2026 All‑Star Game starters last Thursday, and the Dream had no representation.

The WNBA announced the list of 2026 All-Star Game starters on Thursday.
Reese, Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray, none of the Dream's top three players, found a place in the starting lineup. The Dream center was bewildered by the snub.
"It's a very big shocker to see that none of us were starters, especially where we are as a team in the league," Reese said, according to ESPN.
It's hard to dismiss Reese's point.
Putting aside the big slump in the last two weeks, the Dream started as one of the best teams in the league. Before five losses in a row, they had a 12-4 record, one of the top three teams in the league.
Reese added that she 'expected to be disrespected' but was especially heartbroken for Gray and Howard, who have been crucial in the Dream's success this season.
Reese finished sixth in each fan, media, and player ranks in All-Star Game frontcourt voting. Perhaps the snub could trigger another big run for Atlanta.
