Watch: Princess Kate Middleton Forgoes Royal Box to Watch Wimbledon Round 3 From Outer Courts

It seems like Princess Kate is becoming an expert in breaking royal traditions to modernize the British Monarchy, as she swerved the royal box at Centre Court and watched among the spectators instead on Court Number One and Court 18 at Wimbledon.

The Princess wore a stunning blue linen suit and a white top on Thursday, and fans were overjoyed to see her ditch the royal box as she was vividly transfixed by all the games, gasping and reacting to every point scored.

ESPN NFL reporter Jeff Darlington said, "Sign of a true tennis fan to see Princess Kate showing up at Wimbledon and sitting at the outer courts, away from the Royal Box and Centre Court, to catch some third-round tennis."

Being an avid player herself, Kate is a frequent visitor to the tennis competition and often hands the trophy to the winner as a patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

Initially, Kate headed to Court 18 to watch Briton Arthur Fery play his second-round match against Finn Otto Virtanen.

Following that match, she travelled to Court One to watch Briton Katie Swan face Madison Keys. There, she sat with Andy Murray, the first British man to win the Wimbledon singles title in 77 years.

Funnily enough, neither of the Britons realized that the Princess was watching them live.

Katie Swan and Fery Were Clueless About Princess Kate's Visit

The Princess watched a portion of the match involving the Briton, who won 5-7, 7-6 (3), 6-3, 6-3, against Otto Virtanen.

While Katie Swan lost to World No. 22 Madison Keys 1-6, 4-6, she was pleasantly surprised to hear about it.

“I heard after that she was there,” the 27-year-old Swan said. “It’s probably a good thing I didn’t know, otherwise I might have been a bit more nervous.”

Swan added she’d “love to meet her if possible one day,” calling Kate “such an inspiring person.”

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old Fery also shared the same sentiment and said it was “an honor” to play in front of Kate.

“I guess if I’d known, it would have maybe made me a little tight,” said Fery, who didn’t notice the crowd buzz. “I was locked in, I didn’t hear it.”

This is not Kate's first rodeo at Wimbledon, as she was on hand for Carlos Alcaraz's win over Novak Djokovic during her recovery in 2024.

Last year, she was at Center Court for consecutive days and presented the winners' trophies to singles champions Iga Swiatek and Jannik Sinner.

So, whom do you think the Princess will hand out the winners' trophies to this year? Let us know in the comments.
