Watch: Olivia Miles Torches Phoenix With Strong First Half in Lynx’ Historic Win

Olivia Miles powered the Minnesota Lynx to a historic 111-77 win over the Phoenix Mercury. Her record-breaking rookie performance secured Minnesota's fifth consecutive victory.

Minnesota set the tone early. They already built a 35-22 lead after the first quarter and opened the second with an 11-4 run, and finished the first half with 67 points. That total was the third-highest scoring half by a road team in WNBA history.

Still, much of the attention centered on Olivia Miles. The rookie guard was outstanding in the first half. She scored 13 points and dished out five assists while shooting a perfect 5-for-5 from the field.

She kept it going after the break. Miles finished with 19 points, nine assists, four rebounds, and three steals while shooting 7-of-9 overall. In the process, she became the first rookie in WNBA history to post those numbers while shooting at least 75% from the field.

The milestones did not stop there. Miles joined Caitlin Clark as the only rookies in league history to record at least 19 points, nine assists, and three steals in a game.

She also became the third-fastest player in WNBA history to reach 100 points and 50 assists. But her accolades don't stop there.

Olivia Miles Ties Franchise Rookie Mark

Olivia Miles' performance against the Phoenix Mercury extended her double-digit scoring streak to nine games.

That tied her with Minnesota legends Seimone Augustus and Tonya Edwards for the longest double-digit scoring streak by a rookie in franchise history.

Augustus set the mark in 2006 after being selected No. 1 overall. Edwards accomplished it in 1999 after the Lynx drafted her seventh overall.

Now, Olivia Miles again has a chance to stand out in Minnesota's next game against the Golden State Valkyries. The record would be another milestone in what has already been a remarkable first season with the Lynx.

The Lynx already look like legitimate championship contenders, and Miles has played a major role in that rise.

Even more encouraging, Napheesa Collier is expected to begin her return-to-play progression this month. Once the franchise star is fully healthy, Minnesota could become an even stronger team.
