Angel Reese could not help but fall back into tears after a heated exchange with her former teammate in the third quarter of the game between the Atlanta Dream and the Toronto Tempo.
Midway through the second half, Tempo forward Isabelle Harrison actually hit Reese with a hard foul after the Dream star received the ball under the basket and tried to power her way through Harrison.
However, the Tempo forward ended up tackling Reese to the ground, as the two got involved in a heated exchange following the sequence. Harrison received a Flagrant 2 foul.
This left Reese visibly emotional, as Harrison had been her teammate during her rookie year in 2024. The clip from Just Women's Sports on X highlighted just how affected she was by the altercation.
Harrison's foul was initially given as a common one before the referees upgraded it to a Flagrant 2. She will pay a $1,000 fine and is now just two flagrant points away from a one-game suspension.
Harrison, the No. 15 pick from the 2015 draft, served as a mentor to Reese during her rookie year with the Chicago Sky, which could be one of the reasons why she felt so emotional after the scuffle.
Regardless, Reese got the last laugh at the end as the Dream made a dominant 102-77 comeback victory against the Tempo.
While Reese was not the top scorer for her team, her brilliant plays in the second half on both ends of the court earned her recognition from her teammates.
Angel Reese's Second Half Performance Was Key for the Dream's Victory
The Dream was trailing 25-13 in the first quarter, but managed to flip the script entirely in the second after a monstrous 34-point display, their highest for the season.
Karl Smesko's team kept the momentum running in the second half, as the Dream outscored the Tempo 89-52 over the final three quarters and never trailed again.
Reese made sure that the Dream had enough possessions to make the comeback happen. She pulled down 17 rebounds, 11 on the offensive end, recording her ninth double-double of the season with 15 points. Her 11 offensive rebounds tied the second-most in a single WNBA game.
While Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard combined for 50 points on 50% shooting from the field, Gray credited Reese's overall performance as the reason the Dream secured the win.
"Angel's a beast on the board," Gray said after the win. "She does everything that we need to help us win and accomplish our goals for the game."
With the win, Atlanta finishes 4-2 in the 2026 Commissioner's Cup, raising $14,000 for The King Center.
Next up, Angel Reese and the Dream face Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever for the second time this season, looking to level the series at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Thursday night.
So, who do you think will come out on top in the rematch between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese? Let us know in the comments.
