The Golden State Valkyries have confirmed they will host all home games of a potential WNBA Finals series at Chase Center, even if it forces a Doja Cat concert scheduled for the same night to be rescheduled.
Game 2 of the WNBA Finals is set for October 19, a date that currently coincides with a Doja Cat performance at the San Francisco arena as part of her Tour Ma Vie World Tour. The concert is listed for 7:30 p.m., creating a direct conflict with the basketball schedule.
“Update: The Valkyries tell @FOS that the team will host all WNBA Finals home games at Chase Center. The Doja Cat concert will be moved to a contingency date,” as per Colin Salao on X.

As the highest remaining seed, Golden State would hold home-court advantage in the Finals against either the Atlanta Dream or New York Liberty. That would place Games 1 and 2 at Chase Center on October 17 and 19, with additional home dates possible if the series extends further.
After reports of the double-booking surfaced, the Valkyries issued a clear statement, as posted by Salao on X as well. The team told Front Office Sports it will host Game 2 at Chase Center and that the Doja Cat concert will be moved to a contingency date.
The decision reflects the franchise's priorities in just its second season. The Valkyries finished the regular season 32-12, earned the No. 2 seed, advanced past the Dallas Wings, and took a 1-0 lead over the defending champion Las Vegas Aces in the semifinals.
Chase Center is owned by the same Golden State Group that controls both the Valkyries and the NBA's Warriors. That dual ownership gives the basketball side significant influence over arena priorities during major sports events, and the Warriors' regular-season schedule doesn't conflict with the potential Finals dates.
A pattern of arena conflicts
This isn't the first time the young franchise has had to navigate venue complications. In 2025, a Chase Center booking for the Laver Cup forced the Valkyries to relocate a first-round playoff game against the Minnesota Lynx to SAP Center in San Jose, as per SFGate.
The last-minute shift disrupted plans for players, staff, and fans who had expected to play at home in the franchise’s debut postseason. While the team adapted, the episode highlighted the challenges of sharing a high-demand arena still primarily programmed around the Warriors and major concerts.
This latest situation carries even higher stakes, with a potential championship series on the line and far greater national attention. The organization’s decision to lock in Chase Center for any Finals games signals a firmer stance on protecting its postseason home-court advantage.
Do you think venues should prioritize sports scheduling over entertainment bookings in situations like this?
