"Unserious Organization": Andraya Carter Reacts to Players Leaving Chicago Sky

Several superstars have left the Chicago Sky, whether due to a broken relationship with the organization or due to injuries. Renowned sports commentator Andraya Carter had some words to say about this recurring pattern.

Carter was among the WNBA Countdown panel experts before the Chicago Sky and the Atlanta Dream game. The game on June 9 at the Wintrust Arena saw the Dream win 82-75. Carter discussed how Angel Reese wasn't the only one who faced problems with the Sky and finally got traded to the Dream.

"There have been so many instances where I feel like Chicago is an unserious organization, and it starts at the top, with the owner, Michael Alter," she said. "Sylvia Fowles wanted out of Chicago; Elena Delle Donne wanted out of Chicago; those are top picks for Chicago."

Eight-time All-Star Sylvia Fowles chose not to sign an extension with the Sky after seven seasons in 2014. She sat out in the 2015 season, demanding a trade.

Similarly, Olympic gold medalist and two-time MVP Elena Delle Donne parted ways with the Sky in 2016 to move closer to her family.

"In 2021, their fourth overall pick, Gabby Williams, had national responsibilities. Chicago suspended her for the season, and she got out of Chicago," she continued. "They win a championship, 2022, they go to the semis, and then what happens, their stars leave."

Williams was suspended without a valid reason, but reports suggested that her playing for the French national team led Chicago to make this decision. She was traded to the Los Angeles Sparks in 2021 before being acquired by the Seattle Storm in 2022.

In 2022, now Hall of Famer Candace Parker also left Chicago to stay close to her family, after helping Chicago win their first WNBA title.

2024 first-round pick Angel Reese, who was clearly not happy with Chicago, certainly came to haunt them in their latest game.

Chicago Sky Faces A Bumpy Road So Far

Reese dominated the game against Sky, scoring 17 points and having 17 rebounds for the Dream. With this loss, the Sky now stand 12th in the league standings with a 4-8 record.

They have been poor offensively, averaging just 80.2 points per game and ranking 13th in the league. They have not been great at steals either, averaging just 6.6 per game.

While Skylar Diggins, Kamilla Cardoso, and Rickea Jackson are holding on for Chicago, averaging 14.6, 18, and 12.3 points per game for them, respectively, Chicago would need to be more agile to grab wins.

Chicago is currently on a two-game losing streak, having lost earlier to the Toronto Tempo 68-85. The Sky will face the Indiana Fever next, who hold a 6-5 record and are sixth in the league standings. The game will take place on Thursday, June 11.

Can Skylar Diggins lead the Chicago Sky to their fifth victory this season in the upcoming matchup? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
