Caitlin Clark has been playing the best basketball in her three years in the WNBA. Last year, the Indiana Fever star played less than one-third of the season with multiple injuries. But she is playing the most balanced basketball in the 2026 season.
Clark is averaging career highs in points. Her shooting has also seen an upward trend from her last two seasons. According to SB Nation WNBA analyst Jacob Rude, the 2026 season has been Clark's best season yet.
“She's been really good this year, and especially after all the injuries she had last year, and just honestly being kind of a non-factor last year," Rude said on WNBA Today on CLNS podcast on Thursday. "To see her come back and have her best season yet, she's scoring at a higher efficiency than she ever has...getting to the rim... setting up teammates as well as she ever has."
Statistically, Clark is playing the best basketball of her career. She is averaging 21.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 8.2 assists on shooting 43.0% from the field and 34.4% from the 3-point line.
"She looks as good as she ever has. I think, depending on how much you're paying attention to this team, you would think she's playing a lot worse than she is. She's been great this season," Rude added.
In her rookie season, Clark struggled with scoring efficiency. Last year, her shooting struggles were compounded by health struggles. But this season, she has largely been healthy and found her rhythm in the game.
Caitlin Clark's numbers show she is playing her best basketball
Caitlin Clark is impacting the Fever far more than what meets the eye. Given how Indiana has struggled so far in the season, a deeper dive into her numbers renders a proper perspective.
As per reports by StatMuse, She is in the top three on the Fever roster in all three categories. She is Fever’s assists leader, second in scoring behind Kelsey Mitchell. She is also tied with Monique Billings and Damiris Dantas for second-most blocks and third in both rebounds and steals.
The only player who has arguably been better than Clark in Indiana is Aliyah Boston. The Fever forward leads the team in rebounds, steals and blocks. She is third in points and second in assists.
In her rookie season, Clark was -1.6 in plus/minus. This season, it has gone up to 2.9. The Fever star's presence has been beneficial for her team while recording, with the highest usage percentage on her team by far.
