"UConn Is a WNBA Factory": Fans React as Huskies Extend Remarkable WNBA All-Star Streak

The City of Chicago will be welcoming the WNBA’s best players in the coming month, and once again, one college basketball program just cannot be overlooked during the event. The pipeline from UConn keeps adding to the legacy of this league.

"At least one UConn player has started in every WNBA All-Star game since 2002," ESPN Insights tweeted on July 2. "Paige Bueckers, Breanna Stewart and Gabby Williams are the most starters from a single college program this year."

This has been happening for almost a quarter-century already, and this year’s three players just show how well the Huskies are doing. Bueckers was the most voted-for player among fans (1,045,051 votes), while Stewart received her sixth consecutive All-Star selection, and Williams made it to the starting lineup of the All-Star Game for the very first time.

This trend spread like wildfire, and several people online have echoed this statement by referring to the team as a “WNBA factory.”

This response just proves how common the dominance of UConn has become, especially after the fact that the Huskies concluded their 2025-26 season with a 38-1 record, having won 54 straight games before their only loss in the Final Four.

The response just kept getting bigger on social media, with many fans filling their timelines to cheer the Huskies' All-Star performance.

Fans Flood Social Media Over UConn's WNBA Dominance

"UConn Is a WNBA Factory," a fan wrote, summarizing the feeling that spread rapidly through the social media sites.

It was appropriate to compare them to a production line because all three of UConn's products, Bueckers, Stewart, and Williams, started on the same team.

One fan said, "Great in college, great in the pros." This was right in line with the statistics, considering that Bueckers has an average of 19.9 points and 5.9 assists per game, while Stewart recently won her third consecutive Commissioner's Cup and MVP award.

"That streak is absolutely unreal," was another comment made on the streak that has remained consistent ever since 2002. 24 straight years of having at least one starter from UConn is something that no other university program has been able to do so far.

Another comment stated, "At this point, UConn sending All-Stars is basically an annual subscription."

Williams gave some truth to this joke as well by leading the league in steals per game with 2.6 and scoring her best in a career with 15.9 points.

"I love this," was yet another response, a short phrase that resonated in many more replies.

Considering Azzi Fudd currently finished in 10th place in the votes and is still available for a reserve position, it's clear that the pipeline stretches far beyond the July 7 announcement.

Considering the award-winning, stat-packed, and sheer repetition of the names, it's understandable why the UConn legacy keeps driving the same response repeatedly.

Comment on the UConn superstar that you can't wait to see at the All-Star Game in 2026!
