"This League is a Joke": Fans Left Fuming After WNBA Doesn't Rescind Caitlin Clark's 5th Technical Foul

The never-ending story between Caitlin Clark and the WNBA's officiating continues, and the latest whistle is not doing her any favors to remain on the court.

Clark was whistled for her fifth technical foul of the season against the Phoenix Mercury on Monday, which will not be rescinded upon review, according to the Athletic.

A player who reaches eight technical fouls in a season automatically receives a one-game suspension, along with a $1500 fine.

Clark already called the tech "ridiculous" as the call triggered after she fouled Mercury forward DeWanna Bonner and clapped in the direction of the Mercury bench.

“I went to Gerda, and I said, ‘Why’d you give me a technical foul?’ She said because I was ‘clapping and instigating,'” Clark said, per The Athletic. “I said, ‘OK, then you just don’t like competitive
basketball.’ And that’s just facts. That’s just reality.”

While Fever head coach Stephanie White defended Clark in this matter, she also reminded her that she needs to be more aware of actions that may lead to technical fouls.

"There are natural things that happen that the energy of the game creates when you do get those (technical fouls), but there are some that we can be a little bit more in control (of)," White told reporters, according to James Boyd of The Athletic.

Clark was not the only one to receive a tech. In fact, she was one of many. Myisha Hines-Allen was ejected following a scuffle with Mercury's Alyssa Thomas, who received a tech herself.

In addition, Bonner and Sophie Cunningham had the whistle-blow on them after a heated exchange.

But none of the fouls were as soft as Clark's, and fans on social media erupted after coming to know it was not rescinded.

Fans React to Caitlin Clark's Tech Not Getting Rescinded

WNBA fans on X were quick to join in on the controversy, and the majority were on CC22's side due to how casual the clapping gesture felt.

"This league is a joke fr. The bias and hate for Clark is insane." A fan straight up commented that the WNBA is biased towards Clark, and not in the right way.

However, another user replied to the fan, saying, "For all the tantrums she throws, I think they’re cutting her slack or leeway."

Clark has been known to have an issue with officiating in almost every game, which in turn has left a sour taste for a few fans.

"Yet people claim she has a special whistle lol" a fan believes that Clark's latest tech not being rescinded should be enough proof that the league has never done her any special favors.

"So PB gets hers rescinded for clapping, but not CC. Got it." One user pointed out the hypocrisy with the league's officiating.

Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers' tech was rescinded after she enthusiastically responded to a foul call during a game against the Atlanta Dream in May.

Clark now needs to stay even more mindful of the smallest of actions on court, as only three more technical fouls are left until she gets suspended for one game.

So, do you think Caitlin Clark's foul not being rescinded was fair? Let us know in the comments.
