“They Want To Avoid Judgement Day”: WNBA Analysts Highlight Chicago Sky's Internal Disconnect After Tyler Marsh Response

The Chicago Sky are on a three-game losing streak, and the frustrations seem to be boiling over for Chicago Point guard Skylar Diggins. WNBA analysts Juju Gotti and Trysta Krick recently spoke about the discord between Diggins and Head Coach Tyler Marsh on their YouTube channel.

With a season record of 4-9, the Sky are facing some backlash with regard to their offensive capabilities. In a June 12 YouTube video, Gotti and Krick discussed how Skylar Diggins’ recent reaction to questions on the offense and head coach Marsh’s response to the same.

“They got the same goal. They want to win the game. They want to avoid judgment day when it comes. But they got different ideas on how to get there.”

The discussion happened after Diggins’ response to a question at the press conference after the Sky’s June 7 loss to the Toronto Tempo. Diggins was asked by a reporter about the half-court offensive execution by the Sky, and the PG responded sharply.

That’s a Tyler [Marsh] question. Ask Tyler,” Diggins said.

The pointed reply caused the reporter to go silent, but it raised questions about the differences in opinion between the players on the Chicago roster and coach Marsh.

The analysts also brought up Marsh’s response to Diggins' comment about the offense. Marsh seems to believe that the roster and he are following the same plan.

“None of us are complacent where we’re at,... emotions are high, frustration is high, but we’re all on the same page,” Marsh said

But that begs the question, if they are on the same page, why do the results not reflect the intent?

Chicago Sky's Offensive Crisis That Sparked Tensions

The Chicago Sky have had a less-than-desirable start to the 2026 season. They were already facing issues with the offense, but Rickea Jackson’s injury sent them spiraling.

The 2024 All-Rookie Team star suffered a torn ACL on May 17 during a game against the Minnesota Lynx. She has been labelled as out for the rest of the season.

This spells doom for the Sky’s offence, which has seen a steep decline. Since May 29, Chicago has averaged only 77.3 points per game, the third worst in the league. Only the Mercury Phoenix and the Seattle Storm are below them.

Their offensive rating over the course of this season stands at 99.2, once again the third worst in the league, above the Connecticut Sun and the Storm. Their offensive rebound percentage is the worst of any team, at only 26.5%

Diggins commented on the slump in the post-game presser.

“It’s disappointing, it really is. It’s frustrating,” she said. “The games ain’t going to slow down, the teams are going to keep getting better. So we got to figure out how we’re going to turn this corner in here, but it’s been an extremely frustrating experience.”

With Jackson out of the picture, Diggins and Center Kamilla Cardoso are the only two averaging double digits. The Sky needs an immediate fix for their scoring problems if they are to defeat the New York Liberty, whom they face on June 17.

Do you think the Chicago Sky can work out their issues and beat the Liberty, who now hold a  9-4 record? Let us know in the comments.
