"That's a Problem": Stephanie White Calls Out Media for Pushing 'Speculation' About Fever Locker Room

Ever since Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White and star player Caitlin Clark got into a heated exchange during the 100-84 loss to the Portland Fire on May 30, fans and media have circulated rumors that their relationship was disrupted. White has once again cleared the air regarding the "speculations."

After Fever's 85-75 win over the Connecticut Sun on Saturday, a reporter asked White about her current relationship being in jeopardy with the two-time All-Star. She went ahead and addressed the question blatantly.

"I don't know if their report says as much as... I think it's speculation. I don't think you're talking about journalism," White said (in a clip shared by reporter Tony East). "And so if we're gonna continue to create news from fans on social media or bots on social media or whatever it may be, then that's a problem, right? I think legitimate news sources need to report legitimate news."

Clark also reacted to it, saying that she thinks it's just a "speculation." But this isn't the first time White has denied claims surrounding her and Clark.

Speaking about the viral clip of their sideline argument during a timeout in the game against the Fire, Stephanie White had said:

"I was challenging a player. It’s coaching. My relationship with Caitlin is great; she wants to be coached. I want her to help me be a better coach. We’re both competitive, we’re both stubborn, we’re more alike than different. Hopefully, we continue to bring the best out of each other."

Amidst the ongoing rumors, White and Clark have consistently shown support for each other. The Fever have also shown determination in their latest games and are currently in fine form.

Stephanie White Is Leading the Fever to a Great Run of Form

The Indiana Fever are on a three-game winning streak after beating the Connecticut Sun on the road. They now stand third in the Eastern Conference standings and are seventh in the league standings.

White has done a great job with the Fever's offense. Indiana currently ranks fourth in points per game, averaging 89.9 points. They also rank fifth in assists per game, averaging 21 assists.

Additionally, the Fever and White have leveled up on defense, with the team allowing only 8.8 second-chance points per game, ranking first in the category. They now also rank third in the league with a defensive rating of 102.6.

The Fever now holds an 8-5 record in the league and is set to play the Toronto Tempo next on Tuesday, June 16. The expansion team has had a rocky start to the season and currently holds a 7-6 record.

The Tempo will play a game against the Atlanta Dream on Sunday, June 14, before facing Stephanie White and her team on June 16.
