Former NFL Pro Bowl quarterback Robert Griffin III sparked a heated debate by declaring that Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark should win the 2026 WNBA MVP award.
Griffin voiced his strong support on X right after Clark put on a historic perfromance against the Connecticut Sun.
"Caitlin Clark should win the WNBA MVP," Robert Griffin III wrote on X.
RGIII backed up his claim with three standout facts.
"1st Woman EVER in WNBA history to have back to back 30 point and 10 assist games. 6 career games of 30+ points and 10+ assists. The rest of the WNBA has 4 in league history. Only Woman EVER to have 800 points and 300 assists in a season," he claimed in his post.

Clark, indeed, makes her MVP case stronger with every game she plays.
Against the Chicago Sky on Aug. 24, she recorded 37 points and 10 assists in a single game. In her next game against the Sun, she once again made history with back-to-back games with at least 30 points and 10 assists, recording 34 points and 12 assists.
She's averaging roughly 22 points, 8.3 assists, and 3.8 rebounds a game, sitting third in the league in scoring and first in assists.
And beyond that, her presence on the floor has been credited with unlocking career years for both Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston.
But even with those numbers, ESPN recently listed Clark at No. 2 on its league-wide player rankings, trailing only A'ja Wilson.
Fans argue with RGIII’s Clark MVP take
Not all fans agreed with Griffin's claim, as one fan wrote on X, "Stop campaigning, she won't. All roads lead to the reigning champ A'ja. Case closed."
If there's a runaway favorite, it's still Wilson. The four-time MVP is averaging roughly 26 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and two blocks per game.
Wilson's argument isn't just offense, either. She's a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, which is a big reason why Wilson's case is stronger than the others.
"This is the second time u posted this s***. No shes not!!" added another fan.
Just days earlier, after Clark recorded 37 points and 10 assists against the Sky, Griffin posted a full ranking crediting Olivia Miles as Rookie of the Year and A'ja Wilson as the best player in the WNBA, while claiming Clark as the actual MVP.
One fan even argued that Clark is not even the MVP on her own roster.
"Here he go again, just making things up. It’s out of Wilson, Mitchell, and Miles no matter how many words you type," the fan wrote.
Clark's teammate, Kelsey Mitchell, is averaging over 24 points per game and is on a record 23 straight games with 20-plus points.
Meanwhile, Minnesota Lynx rookie Olivia Miles became the first player to reach 400 points, 100 rebounds, and 100 assists in her first 22 games.
Still, some fans wonder why Wilson is viewed as unbeatable.
"Real question is, what exactly makes Aja stand out so much that makes her the MVP lock?" one user asked.
Comparing a point guard and a center isn't easy. Clark controls the offense while Wilson waits for the ball and finishes plays with supreme efficiency. That's why Clark has more assists while Wilson has more points and rebounds.
That's why one Clark fan added at the end, "Picking anyone else this season would be absurd. What else would she have to do? Average 30/10 a game?"
