At this point, fans already expect a headline-worthy entrance whenever Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham arrives in an arena, and she continued that sentiment in Thursday's matchup against the Atlanta Dream.
The Fever guard wore a black swimsuit-inspired bodysuit featuring a front zipper design and sheer mesh detailing. She paired the look with black leather shorts.
The outfit immediately caught the attention of fans on social media, as Cunningham's bold look quickly became one of the most trending topics ahead of an important Commissioner's Cup clash.
Fever fans quickly went to the comments section to praise Cunningham's latest fashion choice, dropping heart emojis and claiming that she is one of the best-dressed players in the league.
This is not the first time Cunningham has gone viral for her fashion statements, as she also recently wore a USA World Cup jacket and a Victoria's Secret-inspired look that drew plenty of attention online.
Thursday night was just an example of Cunningham's growing popularity this season. It also helps her that the Fever is constantly one of the league's most-watched teams.
In addition, playing alongside Caitlin Clark has naturally brought more attention, but it is still commendable that Cunningham has managed to carve out her own spotlight through a combination of tough play, personality, and fashion.
However, as much attention Cunningham receives outside the court, her impact and influence on the Fever speaks tenfold to that on the court as well.
Sophie Cunningham is More Than Just a Fashion Statement
Cunningham's value on the Fever team extends far beyond the box score, as she also ranks among the team's leaders in minutes played. Moreover, the veteran is a respectable voice in the locker room, thanks to her experience.
Cunningham has also proved that she is a valuable scorer for the Fever off the bench, drilling two three-pointers in the game against the Atlanta Dream.
Through the Fever's first eight games, Cunningham averaged 9.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists while serving as the team's top scorer off the bench.
Her versatility and defensive intensity have helped make her one of head coach Stephanie White's most trusted players.
With the Commissioner's Cup going on, Cunningham and the Fever would love to defend their in-season tournament trophy, which they were the inaugural champions of last year.
The Indiana Fever (5-4) takes on the New York Liberty (6-4) on Saturday night after a much-needed victory against the Atlanta Dream to kickstart their defence.
So, do you think Sophie Cunningham's off-the-bench attributes will be a key factor in the Indiana Fever's quest to defend their crown? Let us know in the comments.
