Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and shooting guard Kelsey Mitchell have created two MVP discussions in the same backcourt while averaging almost 48 points per game as the Fever fight their way towards the playoffs with only four games remaining in the regular season.
Sophie Cunningham, a guard for the Indiana Fever, addressed this divided loyalty on an episode of the “No Hesitation” podcast.

"I just think it's crazy because I have two great players on my team, and I'm going to hype both of them up like I could make an argument that Kelsey should be MVP, I can make a big argument that CC should be MVP, and we totally hype both of them up," Cunningham said.
Clark is contributing 22.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 8.4 assists and has shot 45.6 percent from the field. On the other hand, Mitchell offers 25.0 points per game and 45.5 percent three-point shooting percentage, which makes it hard for teammates to pick sides.
However, Cunningham didn't end there by complimenting both players. During the same interview, she clarified how her statements were misinterpreted online.
"You know how the internet works, so they just wanted to clip whatever, but yeah, that was actually psychotic, but that gives you a little bit of a taste of like what the WNBA media is like," Cunningham said.
All of that overreaction on the Internet comes from the fact that it seems very close. While Clark is sitting at plus 4500 on the current odds board, Mitchell is just behind her at plus 5000, and both are way behind A'ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces, who is favored to win the award.
But none of all that discussion will mean anything if the Indiana Fever can't earn a better seed.

Indiana is in fifth place with 26 wins and 14 losses, tied with the Atlanta Dream; however, they lag in the tie-breaker. With four matches left in the season, winning against the Toronto Tempo would keep their seed hopes alive.
According to Cunningham, the two guards do not have to shoulder the burden alone.
"I could make an argument that Kelsey should be MVP, I can make a big argument that CC should be MVP, and we totally hype both of them up," she said on the same podcast.
She mentioned how easily an aspect from the real world could take away from the positive remark made, stating, "That was actually psychotic, but that gives you a little bit of a taste of what the WNBA media is like."
The offense of Indiana makes a statement when it comes to this topic. In terms of the overall statistics, the Fever are the highest-scoring team in the entire league, averaging 97.0 points per game at 49.2% shooting.
