Former ESPN anchor Linda Cohn had some strong words of discontent for the WNBA players who voted Caitlin Clark as the eleventh-best guard in the league.
While Clark was voted the third-best overall guard after combining votes from the fans (50%), the players (25%), and the media (25%), there was a huge disparity between where the players voted her as compared to the fans (second) and the media (third).
"Small-minded mentality by the players, by this league. And I'm waiting for the commissioner (Cathy Engelbert) to channel maybe her inner David Stern." Cohn said on Yahoo Sports Daily.

"David Stern was one of the greatest sports commissioners we ever had. And figure out how to make this and make your league bigger and better and improve it so it will become what it should be, a must-watch league." She added.
Cohn was well within her right to express such sentiment for Clark. The Indiana Fever star is averaging 21.4 points and 8.2 assists this season, and her 34.4 percent clip from beyond the arc matches her record-setting rookie campaign.
This is not the first time Clark's standing among her peers has not compared to where she was seen by fans or the media.
The voting criteria for last year's WNBA All-Star Game were weighted the same way as this season's, and Clark got the ninth-most votes for guards when her WNBA peers cast their ballots.
While All-Star voting can become biased and borderline comical when players choose to vote for their teammates or friends, it becomes a real issue when a top player gets purposefully disrespected.
Apart from Cohn, WNBA legend Candace Parker was also quite disappointed with where Clark ended up in the player voting.
Candace Parker Slams Players for Caitlin Clark's All-Star Voting Result
Parker believes that the current crop of players is jealous of Clark's achievements and all the impact she has created in the league since her inception in 2024.
"I think people need to look at themselves in the mirror and realize, like, man, you’ve got some insecurities if you’re sitting down and putting Caitlin Clark as the eleventh best guard,” Parker said on the Post Moves podcast alongside Aliyah Boston.
Parker did not stop there and compared this to her time as a player when she had to vote for her peers.
She mentioned how she was not a fan of Diana Taurasi, one of the greatest players in WNBA history and the all-time top scorer. But she did not snub her as the current players did to Clark.
Thankfully, the player voting did not matter as much, and Clark added her third All-Star starter honor to her ever-growing resume. The Fever star will now have the opportunity to prove her peers wrong at the July 25 All-Star Game held in Chicago.
So, what do you think is the main reason the players snubbed Caitlin Clark in the voting? Let us know in the comments.
