In the last five games, the Indiana Fever has looked like the best team, and guard Caitlin Clark has been the best player in the WNBA. According to basketball analyst Skip Bayless, the 2024 Rookie of the Year is becoming a big issue for the WNBA teams.
Clark has been on an insane run during the last five games. She has recorded three double-doubles and a triple-double, leading the Fever in its five consecutive wins. The winning streak prompted Bayless to make a big claim about the Fever too.
"Caitlin Clark is becoming a problem for the WNBA … on the court," he wrote in his post on X on Friday, Aug. 31. "She’s starting to look like the MVP, and her highest-scoring team is looking like a championship threat. Uh-oh."
In the last five games, Clark has put up elite numbers on both ends of the court. She has averaged 29.4 points, 9.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds, 1.6 steals and a block while shooting 55.9% from the field and 48.7% from the 3-point line.
The Fever are also by far the best offensive team in the WNBA. They have averaged 96.4 points per game this season, ahead of the Minnesota Lynx (92.2).
The Fever are currently ranked 4th in the league with a 19-10 record. If they can continue their current run over the next 15 games, they are legitimate title contenders, as Bayless claimed.
But they need Clark to continue with the same elite production to do so, considering how Clark's last five-game run has been historic.
Caitlin Clark smashes WNBA records after win over Fire
Clark recorded 26 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in the Fever's win over the Portland Fire on July 31. With that number, she became the fastest player in the league's history to reach four triple-doubles.
Clark took only 78 games to reach the mark, breaking New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu's record (89 games).
Clark now has the fourth most triple-doubles in league history. The Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas leads the list with 20.
During the same game, Clark also became the fastest player to reach the 1,500 career points and 650 assists mark (78 games), per Hawkeyes Wire. Previously, the record was held by Storm legend Sue Bird (116 games).
Clark couldn't have asked for a better way to make a comeback than smashing several records.
Injuries limited her to just 13 games last season. But in 2026, Clark is back with a bang, averaging 21.6 points, 8.0 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game. She is also shooting 44.6% from the field. Clark is also leading the league with a total of 931 points created.
