Skip Bayless drops 9-word response to Caitlin Clark’s performance

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark’s 2026 MVP run has been privy to much controversy. Although Clark's supporters point to the many records she set this season to justify their stance, critics believe that Clark’s popularity comes from a place of fans’ personal bias.

However, analyst Skip Bayless has delivered his verdict on the topic clearly. In a recent X post, posted on August 29, Bayless wrote a simple nine-word message, calling Clark the best in the league.

“Caitlin Clark is the best player in the WNBA,” Skip Bayless wrote in his August 29 X post.

Bayless’ comment comes at a very crucial time: with the WNBA 2026 MVP debate at a fever pitch.

By declaring that Clark is the best in the league, the analyst is more or less also naming her as the player who should win MVP this season.

This isn’t the first time Bayless has spoken out in favor of the Fever guard. As Clark’s offensive prowess continued to improve throughout the season, Bayless has previously stated that the Indiana guard was “becoming a problem for the WNBA”.

Per Marca, Clark’s deep-shooting has always been her greatest advantage. But this season, the WNBA star has also been approaching the games with more aggression, entering the fray and attempting more free throws.

This has led to a sharp rise in her average points and assists in a game this 2026 season. She has been averaging 22.1 points, 8.3 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 0.9 steals per game.

She has also maintained a 45.0 percentage while shooting from the field and 36.8 percent when shooting from behind the arc.

But there is one piece of advice that Bayless has offered the WNBA star, which he believes can improve her performance even further.

Bayless’ advice to Caitlin Clark for improving her game

In an August 25 X post by Skip Bayless, he remarked on Clark’s performance during Sunday’s Indiana Fever-Chicago Sky game.

The analyst felt that if Clark could use her height and shoot more often rather than making passes, she could improve the chances of scoring points.

“I love what I'm seeing from Caitlin Clark, but I love Sunday because she shows you what can happen when she actually gets a little selfish and shoots more than Kelsey [Mitchell] shoots,” Bayless said.

He pointed out that without the pressure of making sure Fever center Aliyah Boston was getting enough opportunities, Clark focused on shooting rather than passing.

Despite usually averaging around 22 points per game, the Fever guard set a career-best record of 37 points in a single game, as well as a franchise record of eight 3-pointers in a single game.

During the same podcast episode, Bayless even compared Clark’s elite court vision and physical size to NBA legends like LeBron James and Luka Dončić.

He suggested that Clark could become even more of a menace on the court if she uses her height and observation skills to shoot more.
