Skip Bayless Chimes in on Caitlin Clark's MVP Chance

Longtime sports commentator Skip Bayless believes that Caitlin Clark is forcing her way into the MVP conversations following her recent performances.

Indiana's offensive game against the Seattle Storm was as good as it could be until Aliyah Boston's unfortunate injury when she landed hard on her right knee and needed assistance leaving the court before heading to the locker room.

Bayless first expressed hope that Boston had avoided a serious injury before turning his attention to Clark and Indiana's recent surge.

"Hoping Aliyah Boston is going to be OK," Bayless wrote on X. "If she is, look out, here come the Fever as Caitlin Clark rises into the MVP race."

Boston was having a fantastic start to the game herself, scoring 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting. But her early departure left the Fever without one of its most important players. Thankfully, Clark and Kelsey Mitchell proved more than enough for the Storm.

Clark led all scorers with 32 points, seven assists and four rebounds in 33 minutes. She shot 9-of-14 from the field and knocked down four of her seven attempts from beyond the arc.

Mitchell's 28 points scored meant the Fever's backcourt put up a total of 60 points on their own, an impeccable performance as Clark continues to look better on the court ever since her minutes restriction was removed following her return from a back injury.

The Fever have now won four games in a row, and with a healthy Clark anchoring head coach Stephanie White's team, Bayless has every right to put Clark in MVP conversations.

Meanwhile, White gave her two cents on Boston's injury after the game.

Stephanie White Offers Encouraging Update Around Aliyah Boston

Aliyah Boston is the highest-paid Indiana player and one of the highest alongside A'ja Wilson in the league, which goes to show her importance.

Naturally, her injury is No. 1 on the Fever's priority list, but White offered an encouraging explanation for why the center did not return.

"No update other than, you know, wasn't really worth the risk for us in the second half," White told reporters. "Just want to be very conservative and make sure that she's good to go."

The Fever will likely evaluate Boston's injury again, but based on White's comments, it seems more like a precaution than a serious injury.

Bayless' prediction also involves Boston's availability to the team. While Clark is capable of carrying the load of an entire team, the Fever is at their best when the trio is united, meaning more wins and adding more to Clark's MVP resume.

So, do you think Caitlin Clark can rival the likes of A'ja Wilson in the MVP race as the season progresses? Let us know in the comments.
