Veteran sports personality Skip Bayless has been a Caitlin Clark supporter throughout the season, but when it's time to be a critic, he does his job pretty well.
The Indiana Fever came through against the Chicago Sky 90-86, and Clark once again played a huge part with 26 points. She also scored a clutch free throw at the end, something she was unable to do in the previous game against the Las Vegas Aces, eventually costing the game and leading to a loss in overtime.
Bayless, who previously criticized her for this, drew parallels between the games and credited Clark for clutching up this time around.
"Caitlin Clark again had two late free throws needing one to clinch. She missed both vs LV. Today she missed the first! ... then rattled home the 2nd - back iron/front iron/good. Shew. Fever survive after again blowing a lead." Bayless wrote on X.
With the victory against the Sky, the Fever notched their 20th win of the season and are steadily climbing up the rankings.
Much of the credit deservedly goes to the Fever's floor general, who is having her best season in the WNBA yet.
Clark is averaging 21.5 points, 8.0 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 4.7 turnovers per game. She is shooting 44.1% from the field and 34.1% from the 3-point range.
But she is not the only one performing the fireworks for the Fever, as her partner-in-crime, Kelsey Mitchell, is having an MVP-calibre season of her own.
Kelsey Mitchell is on a Roll Alongside Caitlin Clark
Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark have quickly formed one of the best backcourt partnerships in recent memory, and the statistics speak for themselves.
Following the win against the Chicago Sky, Clark and Mitchell became the backcourt duo with the most 25-point games in league history, according to Polymarket Hoops.
Mitchell is putting up 24.1 points, 2.7 assists, 1.5 rebounds, and just 1.8 turnovers per game. The veteran guard is shooting an impressive 50.4% from the field and 43.9% from 3-point range.
On an average gameday, the duo accounts for more than half of the Fever's points scored and has helped the Fever gain the reputation of the best offensive team in the league.
Speaking of MVP honors, while the likes of A'ja Wilson and rookie Olivia Miles are slightly ahead of Mitchell in betting odds, we never know where the rankings will end up with 12 games remaining for the Fever in the regular season.
So, do you think Kelsey Mitchell or even Caitlin Clark could be the absolute favorite to win the MVP when the regular season is finished? Let us know in the comments.
