‘She’s Got a New Elbow’: Caitlin Clark Shares Playful Take on Sophie Cunningham’s Shooting Success

Sophie Cunningham and Caitlin Clark have an unbreakable bond off the court as well, and their playful chemistry from the game often carries over into their postgame interviews.

The fans were given a new look at that dynamic on Saturday night when they played the Connecticut Sun. Clark had a lot to say about her teammate's clutch finish, which was a highlight of the game.

In a sideline interview after the Fever's 85-75 win over the Sun, Clark said, "Well, she's got a new elbow. She was telling everybody she was going to make 3 threes tonight. I wasn't so sure about it until the last five minutes, but I guess she held true to her word."

It wasn't a joke; that thing was serious. In the final two minutes and six seconds of the game, Cunningham hit three triples, which assisted Indiana in overcoming a late deficit and closing the game on a 21-10 run, thereby ensuring the Fever's third consecutive victory.

Cunningham discussed her position on the squad after suffering from elbow pain earlier in the season and missing time.

Speaking to reporters, Cunningham said, "You have to stay ready. I think that's been my whole career. You have to control what you can control."

Her impact can be explained by this mindset, despite the fact that she reduced her shooting percentage from deep to 33 percent this year. When it comes to offensive rating, effective field goal percentage, and players with 250+ minutes played for the Fever, Cunningham remains on top.

The brilliance that Clark displayed this week goes far beyond that one memorable moment against Connecticut.

Caitlin Clark's Big Night Sparks All-Star Push

Two days prior to her match against Connecticut, Clark had a standout performance against Chicago. In the 114-106 overtime victory, she had 32 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds.

She became the first player in WNBA history to accomplish this feat with those stats, as she scored 30 points and had 10 assists in three separate games.

The official Fever account capitalised on the moment following Saturday's victory over Connecticut.
They posted, "Caitlin Clark makes a statement in Connecticut. Time to vote her for WNBA All-Star."

In both of her first two seasons, Clark was selected for the All-Star team, and in 2025, she emerged victorious in the fan vote and was given the role of team captain.

The Indiana Fever are currently in sixth place in the standings, two games behind the Las Vegas Aces, who are currently in first place in the league.

On Tuesday, the Fever will play Toronto at home, and then on Thursday, they will play Angel Reese and Atlanta at home.

Do you believe Caitlin Clark should start this season as an All-Star? Comment on.
