Jackie Young scored a staggering 31 points for the Las Vegas Aces, but the team still ended up losing 89-99. With game three on the horizon, fans couldn't help but praise Young's monumental effort.
"Jackie Young is scary accurate!" one fan commented under a post by @trendyhoopstars. The post was dedicated to Young's outstanding stats, which also include five assists and four rebounds.
Her 31 points made her the highest-scoring player in the entire game and the highest in the series so far as well. She also boasted a 100% free-throw rate, going 13 for 13.
The team's forward, A'ja Wilson, wasn't far behind with 22 points, two assists, and nine rebounds of her own. While Young was making basket after basket, as posted by @trendyhoopstars, several others struggled.
Stephanie Talbot ended the game with only nine points, while Breanna Turner scored zero. However, the match was still close. Coach Becky Hammon later admitted that the team was not good defensively in game two.
As a result, Fever guard Caitlin Clark managed to score 27 points with a 50% FG rate. Aliyah Boston also scored 22 while Kelsey Mitchell earned 26 for the Fever's win.
Regardless, their victory was still close. It's crucial to remember that the Aces won game one 102-85 on home court. Back then, Young scored 27 points for the Aces, and she was tied with Chelsea Gray as the second-highest scorer of the match.
Game three will take the Aces back to home court, where the team has gone 15-7 this regular season. This might give Young a better edge on the floor against the Indiana Fever.
Fans rally behind Jackie Young ahead of game three against the Indiana Fever
Jackie Young was clearly the standout player for the Aces in game two. Her sheer scoring ability was on full display, and fans couldn't help but sing her praises.
"She is so good!," one fan wrote under @trendyhoopstars' post, appreciating Young's hooping ability at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
On the other hand, one fan claimed that Young did not have enough help from her fellow players, saying, "Played very good but Had zero help unfortunately"
Some of the Aces' players indeed struggled on the offensive. However, their greatest issue was their defensive prowess in game two. The Fever managed to score 58 points in the paint while maintaining a 51.8% shooting rate from the field.
One fan speculated that it would have been a very different game without Young's performance saying, "Made some tough shots tonight. Would've been a 20 pt blow out without her."
The theory isn't wrong. Young scored 13 points from the free-throw line alone. Meanwhile, her teammate, Breanna Turner, was not able to contribute any points, while Stephanie Talbot only scored nine.
Overall, without her standout performance, the point differential could have been worse. "And 13 for 13 from the ft line", one fan said, acknowledging her monster performance.
Now, the Las Vegas Aces return to home court for game three, which is a must-win situation for them. Unless they're able to bring back the sense of urgency they showed in game one, game three might be a tough one.
