The Fever secured a 92-89 road victory over the Phoenix Mercury. Clark did not play in the game due to an ongoing back injury, but the post-game conversations shifted toward controversy.
After the win, Fever General Manager Amber Cox went on X to thank the loyal supporters. However, a fan account replied to the post, accusing the organization of celebrating much louder when the rookie does not play.
Cox replied, "Nonsense. You know who is also happy after ANY win? CC. Because this is a team full of people who celebrate and care for one another and like all of them, she’s a great teammate. We all cannot wait to have CC back on the court. Enough with this ridiculous narrative."

Cox made this reply on her official X account. She made it clear that the front office rejects any claims that the organization is happier without their star guard.
She highlighted the team chemistry in the locker room and praised Clark for her reputation as a supportive teammate.
The manager reaffirmed that everyone in the building is waiting for Clark to make her healthy return.
Some dedicated supporters believe the organization appears way more enthusiastic after victories that happen without their superstar on the court.
Cox is one of the very few executives who regularly engages with fans on social media. This situation brings us to why these online rumors began to gain so much attention in the first place.
How the rumor took hold
Fans have questioned coaching decisions, questionable roster choices, and a lack of effort in protecting Clark from physical play by opponents.
According to the official Indiana Fever website, her back injury started on June 24 against Phoenix. She missed the July 5 matchup against the Las Vegas Aces to rest her back.
She returned to action on July 8 against the Los Angeles Sparks while dealing with a minutes restriction. During that game, she played just 16 minutes and finished with 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists.
She later admitted that the short rotations affected her playing rhythm, and she sat out the July 9 victory over Phoenix.
The team finds itself caught in debates involving overly physical play, especially following the controversial Alyssa Thomas incident. On top of that, the coaching rotations and social media criticism have put a spotlight on every single move the front office makes.
The roster secured an 84-68 victory over Las Vegas and followed it up with the 92-89 comeback win over Phoenix. But while the team has shown depth during this stretch, the young guard remains the centerpiece of the franchise.
Looking ahead, Indiana will play their next game against the Aces on July 12. The star playmaker is expected to have a chance to return to the court.
According to you, how is front office handling this roster situation?
