Raven Johnson Reveals How Aliyah Boston Helped Her During Time With Indiana Fever

The bond between Raven Johnson and Aliyah Boston has made its way from their days at South Carolina to their time with the Indiana Fever. Johnson says having Boston to support her as a rookie has made her transition to the pros so much easier.

In a recent interview posted by IndyStar, Johnson explained that Boston was in her corner as she dealt with the challenges of becoming a professional player.

"Aliyah Boston, I play with her in college," Johnson said. She's like the mother figure or like the vet that has always been in my circle or that always gets me right. When you have a person like Aliyah, she gets you right, and she gets you back on the page of where you should be."

Drafted at number 10 in the 2026 WNBA draft and faced with all the challenges of becoming a pro player, Johnson was averaging 4.4 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists across 14 games by the time of the interview. Having the support of Boston had clearly eased the transition.

The pair of players built their chemistry at the University of South Carolina as Johnson and Boston were coached by Dawn Staley in the 2022-23 season.

Johnson and Boston were key to a South Carolina team that recorded a 36-1 season and a trip to the Final Four, with Boston averaging a combined 22.8 points and rebounds, and Johnson supporting the team with the most assists at 3.4.

That season, just before Johnson left for the WNBA, Boston told her privately that the team was now hers; it was a watershed moment in her life.

Boston isn't just an inspiration offstage; her most recent performance demonstrated that she is a force to be reckoned with in the most esteemed arenas as well.

Aliyah Boston Continues to Deliver for Indiana Fever

Boston's latest win showcased another dominant performance, leading the Indiana Fever to a franchise-record-setting 5-1 finish in the Commissioner's Cup, beating the Toronto Tempo 113-91.

She had 18 points and 11 rebounds in the win, her fourth consecutive double-double and 46th of her career, trailing only Tamika Catchings in Indiana Fever history, who had 96 during her storied tenure with the organization.

In that endeavour, Boston was not alone. Caitlin Clark recorded her 23rd career double-double with 21 points and 14 assists, while Kelsey Mitchell tied Candace Parker and Skylar Diggins for the 13th most 25-point games in WNBA history with 27.

The victory brought Indiana's winning run to four games in a row. This mentorship that Johnson spoke about is more than just words to a rookie like herself, who gets to see Boston lead their team from the front night after night.
