Plus-Minus Paints Rough Picture for Caitlin Clark vs. Dream

From having one of her finest performances in the first quarter to a howler by the fourth, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever's story for the season was summed up in the game against the Atlanta Dream.

Clark recorded 13 points in the opening 10 minutes of the game and did not turn the ball over once. According to Sports Illustrated's Grant Young, she had a +7 in the first quarter. But that is where the fun ended for Clark and the Fever.

Following the first quarter was complete domination by the Dream. They outscored the Fever 83-59, as Clark was limited to just 13 points for the rest of the game, while sporting an ugly 7-7 assist-turnover ratio.

The Dream set the franchise record in an eventual 113-96 win, and Clark posted the worst +/- of any player from the Fever in the last two games against the Dream. -19 on Saturday and -13 on Thursday.

While Clark ended up scoring 26 points, 7 assists, and 3 rebounds, her offensive impact will continue to have a defined ceiling until she takes care of her turnover issues.

With seven more against the swarming Dream defense on Saturday, Clark now has accrued a league-worst 72 turnovers in 15 games.

That brings her total to 206, making her the first player in WNBA history to have two seasons with 200 or more turnovers in their career.

Meanwhile, the Dream extend their record to 11-4 for the season, and it is safe to say that they have looked the better team throughout the season.

It is also one of the reasons why many fans believe Reese is having a better season than Clark.

Angel Reese Has the Support of the Atlanta Dream

Historically speaking, Clark always used to get the better of Reese in head-to-head matchups since the old college foes went pro. In the Fever's first meeting against the Dream, Clark extended her record to 5-1 against Reese.

But Reese has flipped the script in the last two meetings and has also done her part in the victories. She had 18 points and 8 rebounds in the most recent win, which comes after she put up 21 and 11 in the previous victory.

Additionally, Reese became the fastest player to reach 1,000 rebounds in WNBA history.

This revelation is obvious, as Reese has much better teammates who support her more than during her time with the Chicago Sky.

In both contests against the Fever, all five Dream starters scored in double digits. Apart from Reese, the Dream also has All-Star players in Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard, which has in turn afforded Reese to play to her strengths.

Angel Reese is now well on course to reach her first playoffs in the WNBA with the Dream, while Clark and the Fever need to go back to the drawing board and come up with a better plan.

So, do you think there is still time for Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever to turn things around in their season? Let us know in the comments.
