Paige Bueckers Shares Candid Thoughts on Her "Insane" Record-Breaking Jersey Sale

Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers is breaking records on the court, while her jersey sales are breaking records on the sports memorabilia market. Her recent reaction to a jersey sale has taken the internet by storm!

Bueckers reacted to her WNBA debut jersey selling for a record $64,720. The Wings guard addressed this historic sale during a media availability session on May 30. A clip of her candid response was shared on X by @UnderdogWNBA.

“That’s insane to me… just to be a part of the rise (of the WNBA) right now, you are extremely grateful for it.”

The sale itself involved the official No. 5 game-worn jersey from her professional debut on May 16, 2025. The item was then sold through the company's marketplace on May 29, 2026, to an anonymous private buyer.

Bueckers discussed growing up watching the Minnesota Lynx and not always being able to catch their games on national television.

She also emphasized the importance of not taking the popularity for granted. Bueckers mentioned how fortunate players are to compete in front of passionate supporters every single day.

"I'm just like very grateful and feeling very blessed that people are that invested in women's sports... You can see the rise in popularity and the growth and respect, and it just means so much..."

She viewed the expensive jersey sale as a sign of the rise of women's basketball, rather than an individual financial achievement. She acknowledges that people would previously not spend such money on a WNBA jersey, but she is today part of that meteoric WNBA rise.

“I wouldn’t even pay $10 for my own jersey.”

This record jersey purchase surpassed the record of $32,150, which was held by an A'ja Wilson Finals jersey sold last November.

This specific sale shows a transition in how the public now views the history of the league.

Why Paige Bueckers' Debut Jersey Became Such a Valuable Piece of WNBA History

Interest in authenticated WNBA collectibles has surged over the last two years. The influence of stars like Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, and Bueckers herself has fueled this collector's appetite.

Her individual stardom significantly drove the final auction price. She entered the league with high expectations as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft. She backed up the hype by easily becoming the 2025 Rookie of the Year.

Bueckers is, as of now, averaging around 19.4 points and 5.1 assists per game. Dallas has opened the season with a solid 5-3 record and sits among the top teams in the Western Conference.

The financial record will likely be broken again soon as the market expands. The dollars spent on history are starting to match the talent displayed on the floor.
