‘ON FIRE’: Fans Erupt After Kamilla Cardoso Drops 30 Points Without a Single Miss

Chicago Sky's Kamilla Cardoso came to the Wintrust Arena on Friday night with no intention of missing a shot against expansion side Portland Fire.

In her third season, Cardoso has climbed the ranks by improving her offensive skillset, which was in full flow against the Fire. She surpassed Nneka Ogwumike for the most field goals made in WNBA history without a miss.

Cardoso scored all 13 of her shots for a career-high 30 points and a game-high 8 rebounds to lead the Sky past the visiting Fire 124-94.

Cardoso played 24 minutes in total and scored her last bucket in the third quarter with four minutes remaining. She did not take a shot for the rest of the game.

The Brazilian had help from a couple of teammates to secure the Sky a 30-point lead.

Sydney Taylor had a strong night with 29 points, three rebounds, and three assists. She shot 8-of-11 from the field, including 6-of-7 from downtown, and 7-of-7 from the charity stripe.

Meanwhile, Azura Stevens, Jacy Sheldon, Skylar Diggins, and Courtney Vandersloot all contributed with double digits as six players from the Sky scored 10 points or more.

Thanks to Cardoso's efforts, the Sky are now 6-12 for the season and holding on to the sixth spot in the Eastern Conference standings.

Fans were quick to notice the Brazilian breaking Ogwumike's 12-of-12 field goals record and serenaded her on social media.

Fans React to Kamilla Cardoso's Historic Night

Going 13-for-13 in field goals was obviously going to attract attention, and while fans were surprised with Cardoso breaking the 10-year-old record, those closely following the Brazilian have known her potential for a while now.

"Whoa, Kamilla Cardoso is ON FIRE tonight! That career-high 30PTS and perfect 13/13 FGM is seriously impressive!" A fan commented as the center took a huge leap in scoring this time around after averaging 14 points a game this season.

"Got everyone beat on the court by like 6 inches, this should have been an easy game for her. Ain't nobody her size." Another user affirmed that Cardoso, standing at 6'7", already has an unfair advantage over her players that becomes even more dominant with her shooting efficiency.

"Perfect 13/13 from the field for 30 points is ridiculous efficiency, you don't even see that in practice sometimes." A fan stated that the game was a walk in the park for Cardoso, scoring video game numbers not achievable even in practice sessions.

The Sky have now won all three games against the Fire this season, and will face the reigning champions, the Las Vegas Aces, in a home-and-home series starting on Sunday.

So, do you think Kamilla Cardoso will be able to topple A'ja Wilson? Let us know in the comments.
