Olivia Miles has done it all and more as a rookie for the Minnesota Lynx, and she is not shy about explaining what sets her game apart from the rest of the league.
In a recent sit-down interview with ESPN's Andraya Carter, the WNBA's latest phenom broke down exactly what makes her style so recognizable.
"I think I play up tempo, pace, flashy, kind of swaggy in there as well. I think it's unique. I don't think a lot of people play like me, which is what I love and I cherish about my game. And I take a lot of pride in helping my teammates be better," Miles said.
Miles' comments make it clear that Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve's simplistic ideology has been working on Miles, who has learned to mix her natural flair with the right amount of discipline required at the top level.

"I had a lot of coaches growing up who kind of encouraged that and allowed me to do it in the game if I showed them I can do it in practice."
"I was around a lot of motivators who allowed me to be kind of be me in practice and try things and be crazy or be flashy but Cheryl always tells me that keep it simple." The Lynx rookie added.
And that blend for Miles has heavily shown up throughout the season, as she has been the top performer for the first-place Lynx team alongside winning the Rookie of the Month honors in May.
Moreover, Miles was able to take command and step into a bigger role during star player Napheesa Collier's injury, which Collier already believes she should be a candidate for MVP.
Napheesa Collier Makes Her Feelings Known About Olivia Miles
Collier has finished second in MVP voting in two straight seasons, but she has her eye on a new candidate, that being Miles.
“I’ve been so proud of them,” Collier said of Minnesota’s dominance during her recovery, via ESPN.
“The blood, sweat and tears to get here—I’ve seen the behind-the-scenes every day of building the chemistry, the buy-in ... working with the best rookie, who is arguably an MVP candidate. ... For us to be in the No. 1 slot, you can never count us out.”
Miles is currently averaging 19.3 points, 6.0 assists, and 4.7 rebounds per game this season, and with her breaking rookie records left and right, she is carving her own path in the league as we have never seen before.
And with Collier back in for the Lynx after a long hiatus, you could say Cheryl Reeve's team is now the favorite for the title this season.
So, do you think Olivia Miles is a genuine MVP contender this season? Let us know in the comments.
