Olivia Miles Delivers Career-Best Performance, Shouts Confidence After Layup

Olivia Miles delivered a majestic performance as the Minnesota Lynx crushed the Los Angeles Sparks 99–83. The No. 2 overall pick erupted for a career-high 31 points with four assists and four rebounds, highlighted by a confident second-quarter scoring burst that went viral.

With exactly 5:31 remaining in the first half, Miles sliced through a collapsing interior trap to execute a highly physical layup. The clutch basket pushed the Lynx ahead by 13 points and left the Sparks' defense completely frozen on the perimeter.

Turning directly toward the Los Angeles bench to celebrate the undefendable bucket, Miles confidently shouted, "You can't f****** guard me!"

Miles scored 12-of-15 from the field and 2-of-3 three-pointers. Not only that, but she set a new WNBA rookie record for scoring the most points and field goals made in the first half, with 24 and 10, respectively.

The record for the most points in any half is still held by Dallas Wings star guard Paige Bueckers. Bueckers scored 28 points in the second half against the Los Angeles Sparks on August 20, 2025.

Miles has been amazing since she arrived in the league, prompting the Sparks coach Lynne Roberts to speak about her in the post-game interview.

Olivia Miles Performance Praised By Rival Coach

Although the Sparks suffered a loss against the Lynx, head coach Lynne Roberts did not shy away from praising the rookie after the game, talking about her skills and vision.

"She's good," Roberts said. "She's talented, and it's what I said pregame: she's super skilled, so we were trying to mix things up. We didn't execute it exactly how we hoped to all the time. But you have to just tip your hat to her. She's a great player with a lot of skill. Her ball-handling and vision is what separates her."

Miles is leading among the rookies in points and assists, averaging 19 points and 5.7 assists per game. She is also ranked second in rebounds, averaging 4.9 rebounds per game.

She also averages 6.9 field goals made per game, which it the highest with an accuracy of 56.6 percent. Moreover, she is averaging the most free throws made, at 4.1 per game, with an accuracy of 91 percent.

Also, earlier, she broke the record for the most three-pointers scored in a game by a rookie, scoring eight and beating Caitlin Clark and Crystal Robinson's previous record of seven.

According to the stats, there is no argument that Miles has been the most ruthless rookie this season.

Miles will once more be in action as the Lynx will play the Golden State Valkyries on Friday, June 19.
