It was a big game for Pittsburgh Pirates star pitcher Paul Skenes as they played the Chicago Cubs. In the game, he also got the opportunity to play against one of his former college players, Alex Bregman, with Olivia Dunne highlighting it as well.

It was another disappointing defeat for the Pirates as the Cubs dominated the game and secrued a 7-2 win over the Pirates. The four-game series between the ended at 2-2.

During the game, a moment came when Cubs 3B Bregman was facing Skenes on the mound. Dunne clicked the image of the moment and shared it on her Instagram story with the caption "LSU vs LSU."

While the two are former LSU Tigers ballplayers, Bregman is the senior one out of the two. Bregman played at LSU from 2013 through 2015 and led the Tigers to two College World Series appearances.

While Skenes was transferred to LSU from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 2023, he led the LSU Tigers to a national championship. He was also named the College World Series MVP that year.

Back to the game, although the Pirates were defeated, it was an outstanding performance by the 2025 NL Cy Young winner on the mound. Skenes pitched 5.1 innings in the game and struck out 10 batters while giving up just one earned run on four hits.

Seven of the 10 strikeouts came for him off the first eight hitters. However, due to the Pirates' poor defense and the relief pitchers' inability to capitalize on the situation, Skenes' efforts went in vain, with the Pirates facing their 28th defeat of the season.

Skenes looks to return to form, Dunne seems to be on her own separate path to success after being a professional gymnast.
