2026 has been a record-breaking season for several rising WNBA stars, and that includes Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese.

Since their WNBA rivalry is already well-documented, the newest records set by them have fans aggressively comparing their stats.

A recent X post by Polymarket Hoops posted how Clark and Reese became the only players to win ‘Player of the Week’ honors across consecutive weeks.

“The only players this season to be named ‘Player of the Week’ in back-to-back weeks: — Caitlin Clark — Angel Reese,” the X post uploaded by Polymarket Hoops on September 1 said.

Clark was named WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week for Week 12 on August 18, after she scored a league-high 77 total points across three games. She also recorded a league-leading 29 total assists and 9.7 assists per game. 

Meanwhile, Reese won the same honor soon after, for Week 14 of the season for breaking the league's single-season rebounds record and securing her 29th double-double of the season.

However, this has led to Clark and Reese fans comparing player stats even more aggressively, trying to establish their favorite WNBA star as the better player of the star.

Fans argue over who truly deserves to be called Player of the Week:  Clark or Reese

Fans began flooding the comments section of the X post by Polymarket Hoops to express their opinions on the matter. It even led to them getting involved in arguments, with one Clark arguing that Reese won Week 14 only because the Fever had just one game scheduled that week.

“Dont put that girl next to my goat bruh 😭😭 pieces only won because fever played one game last week,” the fan wrote.

A Reese fan retaliated, calling the Dream forward the real “G.O.A.T.”.

“You mean Angel Reese is the real goat,” they wrote in response.

Another Clark supporter called out the WNBA league for being biased towards Reese, suggesting that she didn’t deserve the Player of the Week title.

“Angel Reese’s stats were so bad lmao, that league just gives her s*** for attention,” they wrote.

Another Clark fan straight up stated that only Clark truly deserved the honor, dismissing Reese’s win.

“And only one deserved it and that's Caitlin Clark,” they wrote.

Of course, Angel Reese fans did not take the criticism lying down. They responded in kind to the comment, believing that the league was “carrying” Clark to the win since her popularity has a major impact on the WNBA. 

“Caitlin Clark only gets carried there,” one such comment said.

Others pointed out that if Reese’s performance was subpar despite breaking league records, that suggests that Clark fans are also criticizing every other player whose record Reese beat.

“If record-breaking stats are ‘so bad,’ then the rest of the league must be atrocious,” the X user wrote.

A more level-headed fan pointed out that Fans were the ones aggravating the narrative that Clark and Reese are rivals, even as they become teammates playing together at the upcoming FIBA World Cup.

“These girls always find a way to be connected in one way or the other.. and we the fans, we are far apart,” the comment said.

Some others expressed a similar sentiment, simply congratulating both players and calling them, “Two stars.” 

The fans’ debate may not have come to a conclusion, but it truly depicted how dedicated fans are to their favorite WNBA basketball icons.

But Clark and Reese fans might have to finally get along once the FIBA World Cup begins on September 4, as the two players will be playing on the same side of the court.
