Georgia Amoore's minutes have sparked plenty of debate in Washington this week, and Thursday's win over Atlanta finally brought a direct answer from the coaching staff on where things stand.
"We're all in on her, you know, when she's healthy, we really believe in what she can do, her three-point volume, her awareness of the game. She's always connected with the coaching staff. If she's healthy, we want to get her out there," the Mystics coach said in the postgame press conference following Washington's 81-76 win over Atlanta on July 2, 2026.
Amoore played only 13 minutes, finishing with 11 points, 1 rebound and 0 assists while managing knee soreness from earlier in the week.
Despite the limited amount of time, she gave the defining moment by scoring two free throws with just 11.4 seconds left in the game.
However, that dramatic finish happened amid an overall team rally. The Washington Wizards were down by nine at halftime, having committed 18 turnovers in the first half, and then made up the deficit by hitting five three-pointers in the third quarter. The leading scorer for the team was Shakira Austin with 21 points and 9 rebounds.
Amoore's health is the determining element of how much she can expand her responsibility, and her coach's statements reveal that there is an obvious strategy once she is completely healed.
As for now, Washington is 10-9 while Atlanta is reduced to 12-8 after losing four games in a row on the road.
This not only means that Washington has won the game but has been involved in some serious foul trouble.
Angel Reese's Technical Foul Trouble Deepens Amid Dream's Skid
The four-game losing streak that the Atlanta Dream find themselves in may not just be a blip on the radar as they lost yet another game on Thursday. With their record falling to 12-8 after having an impressive start at 12-4, Rhyne Howard scored 24 points while Allisha Gray chipped in 17 in their loss.
Angel Reese still managed a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
The bigger issue for Atlanta came in the third quarter, when Reese picked up her sixth technical foul of the season. Officials initially called Shakira Austin for a foul on Reese's tough layup, but Washington challenged the call successfully.
Reese was then hit with a technical for flailing her arm and striking Austin in the face.
Under WNBA rules, technical fouls four through seven each carry a $1,000 fine, meaning Reese now owes for the infraction. She has also received a formal warning letter as she edges closer to the league's suspension threshold.
If Reese reaches eight technical fouls, she faces a mandatory one-game suspension and a $1,500 fine. Given her current pace, that outcome looks increasingly likely for Atlanta.
Do you think Angel Reese's technical foul trouble will end up costing the Dream a game down the stretch? Comment your thoughts.
