"Most Victimized Player": WNBA Fans Slam Sophie Cunningham For Reacting to A'ja Wilson After Fever Fan Exchange

Some moments last long after the final buzzer. In Game 2 in Indianapolis, a tense exchange involving A'ja Wilson became a major playoff talking point. Now, Sophie Cunningham has weighed in, and fans have plenty to say.

Late in the fourth quarter of Tuesday's playoff game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Sophie Cunningham was called for a foul after colliding with A'ja Wilson. Wilson pointed to a Fever fan under the baseline who was pointing and yelling at her. Wilson walked toward him, yelling in his direction. She was assessed a technical foul.

However, Cunningham has now seemingly taken a subtle dig at the whole incident in a video she uploaded to her TikTok account on Wednesday. The video also had an overlay "Iykyk Yikes."

"Not trying to be dramatic at all, like seriously. I was just here having my morning coffee, and what a damn comeback year for the point [pointing to the camera]. Who would have ever thought? Just who would have ever thought?"

Besides the video reportedly mocking A’ja Wilson’s incident with the Fever fan, she also seems to reference her on-court altercation with DeWanna Bonner, which gave rise to her viral finger point.

However, Sophie Cunningham’s reaction to the whole incident did not sit well with the WNBA fans.

The video was reposted by Brick Center on their X account. Under the post, several of the fans took to the comment section to make their feelings known about Cunningham's video.

One fan was quick to point out that Cunningham may want to tread carefully. They commented,

"I don’t think it’s smart to piss A’ja Wilson off any further."

Another fan was quick to use the statistics to question the weight of Cunningham’s words. They wrote,

"And please tell me why Aja would care about what she has to say, much less anyone else?"

Another fan was quick to point out the timing of the exchange, considering what was at stake for the Fever and Aces. They commented,

"It was an overreaction but this is a dumb move by Sophie. You’re going into an elimination game and they have the best player in the W. Not the wisest idea to poke the bear."

One fan offered a different take on the situation, putting an unexpected spin on the familiar MVP abbreviation. They wrote,

"MVP.Most Victimized Player"

Another fan took a sarcastic shot at Cunningham, turning the attention toward what they saw as her defining trait. They commented,

"Imagine being a professional athlete and your signature move is pointing your finger."

Whether Cunningham's video was harmless trolling or poking the bear, as some fans put it, the final word belongs to the court. Game 3 in Las Vegas will decide the series.
