Cross-league crossover analysis can either generate more fans or cause great disappointment, but Chris Bosh seems to have found out this the hard way. WNBA fans have very little tolerance for analysts who come into their game unprepared.
The former two-time NBA champion made a video in which he analyzed the top teams in the WNBA championship. In the post, he mentioned his top contender, the Minnesota Lynx, after winning over the Dallas Wings 85-77.
However, the 11-time NBA All-Star kept referring to the promising rookie Olivia Miles by the name of "Olivia Miller" and kept pronouncing Paige Bueckers' name wrongly during the video.
Fans on X did not let it slide. One user wrote, "Um, dude, do you even know who Olivia Miles is? Or were you just paid to say this?" Another added, "I have no idea who Olivia Miller is. I know Olivia MILES."
This frustration is understandable, considering the success of Olivia Miles in the current season. She averages 18.7 points, 5.7 assists, and 4.8 rebounds per game while shooting at 51.9%.
And Bueckers, the other player whose name Bosh got wrong, was not a forgettable name as well.
This point guard for the Dallas Wings is scoring an average of 19.9 points, 5.9 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game, making more than 51% of her shots from the field and more than 42% of her three-pointers.
She has also been the fastest player ever in the WNBA to score 1,000 points in her career and provide 250 assists, and this proves that the fans indeed have all the right to ask for a clear identity while making predictions for this league.
Regardless of this identity problem, Bosh’s theory of superiority of Minnesota remains true.
Chris Bosh's Championship Pick Has Real Numbers Behind It
Bosh broke down his reasoning for backing Minnesota during the same video. "The Minnesota Lynx are my pick to win the championship in the W," Bosh said. "They're killing it right now. Just had a big win in Dallas. Snapped a six-game home-winning streak."
He continued praising the matchup. "Dallas has been balling right now. Paige Bueckers, she's incredible. She's been balling. They've been doing very well. But check this out, they're 15-4. The Lynx are there, 15-4 right now. 9-1 on the road."
The numbers add up. The Minnesota Lynx currently have the league’s best record with a mark of 15-4, standing atop the Western Conference and averaging 90.5 points per game. They have won their past five games, including four straight, despite not having all-star forward Napheesa Collier, who is still out with left ankle surgery.
Olivia Miles, a rookie for the team, has been responsible for most of their victories by scoring an average of 18.7 points per game.
Can the Lynx maintain this success with Collier back in the rotation?
