Coaches rarely get to watch two of their former stars share a professional stage, but Thursday night in Atlanta gave Kim Mulkey exactly that moment, and she made sure everyone knew it.

"Wow! I watched my girls bring a Natty to LSU, and now I'm seeing them shine in the WNBA! Proud to watch these two LSU Tigers tonight in Atlanta! Tune in on Prime Video at 7:00 pm CT!" Mulkey wrote on social media on Thursday.

The fans immediately gravitated towards this post because of the history between Reese and Johnson, who never enjoyed each other’s company ever since their college days at LSU.

Coming into the game, Reese was averaging 14.9 points and 11.8 rebounds. Johnson, the No. 8 pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft, was contributing 12.7 points and 5.4 rebounds.

The reaction was also influential for the events that took place between them only a few weeks prior.

Reese was going viral on June 27, 2026, when she appeared to refuse to shake hands with Johnson during a Dream-Storm game, reigniting rumors of their feud, which began in 2023 over an academic conflict involving their mothers.

However, Atlanta eventually emerged victorious in Thursday's game, 89-78, as Reese posted her 15th double-double of the year with 18 points and 11 boards.

Aside from the final score, it was really Mulkey’s message that received more attention on social media sites.

"We'll always remember these 3," read another reaction. Reese became the Most Outstanding Player during their championship season, whereas Johnson received Freshman of the Year in the SEC. Their joint effort made LSU one of the top attractions in the game.

A user commented, "Kim and her kids!!" Mulkey has consistently addressed her previous players in family terms during her coaching career.

"Internet want talk about this," was another reaction. In light of the very public rift that has existed between Reese and Johnson since 2023, people found it shocking how affectionate their pairing appeared to be on Thursday.
