After nine seasons building the Fever, Mitchell is now the league's most coveted free agent. Multiple teams will be ready to cash in for the elite scorer.
Mitchell is coming off arguably the best season of her career. She scored a league-record 1,086 total points while leading the league in 3-point percentage (45%), as reported by CBS Sports' Jack Maloney.
The Fever guard was part of the deadly three-headed offense, alongside Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston.
However, at this point, Mitchell intends to be "selfish" about her career.
These are the five teams that would be vying for her services.
Los Angeles Sparks
With Nneka Ogwumike retiring, Mitchell will be the ideal player to fill the gap for the Sparks. This season, Mitchell averaged 24.7 PPG while shooting 45% from the three-point range, playing a crucial role in the Fever’s offense.
Cameron Brink's interior presence would free Mitchell to hunt threes on the perimeter.
On the other hand, Rae Burrell could be eyeing countless fast-break buckets if Mitchell decides to head to Los Angeles.
With money to spend, the Sparks could very likely sign an elite scorer in Mitchell.
Toronto Tempo
Tempo desperately requires a high-level scorer to support Marina Mabrey on the court. Mitchell is the answer. Mitchell’s game flowed alongside Clark, and a similar scenario could play out with Mabrey.
Mabrey’s offensive versatility and Mitchell’s elite scoring would just be what the Tempo needs.
On top of that, Kiki Rice will have a mentor in the locker room. Injuries plagued the 2026 season for the franchise.
Signing Mitchell would open another dimension for the promising team.
Golden State Valkyries
Kelsey Mitchell and Gabby Williams. That’s a duo the entire WNBA would not want together. For the Ballhalla, there couldn’t be anything better.
In just their second season, the Valkyries have taken the league by storm. By signing Mitchell, they could build a dominant team, having both offensive threat and defensive prowess.
In fact, Mitchell will fit right into Natalie Nakase’s intense style of play. Owner Joe Lacob loves to win. Spilling the cash on Mitchell is a huge step towards that.
Washington Mystics
Mitchell is just the type of player the Mystics need on the perimeter.
A true three-level scorer, Mitchell can add the much-needed experience to the young squad. Having relied on their defense, the 30-year-old’s scoring will level up the team overall.
Having only $1.1 million in guaranteed money for the next season, the Mystics will be more than ready to give Mitchell her desired contract.
Portland Fire
Just like the Mystics, Portland Fire is in need of an elite scorer. In their inaugural season, they lacked a true alpha perimeter scorer. Mitchell’s quick decision-making will thrive under head coach Alex Sarama.

Upon signing for the Fire, Mitchell will become the face of the franchise. If she’s willing to join a building expansion project, Portland is the place to head to.
