If the crowd at San Francisco Chase Center didn’t hype Kayla McBride’s celebratory gesture enough, there were the online fans who did.
“Kayla McBride says night, night… in Golden State,” the Underdog WNBA took it to X on August 20, 2026, following the Lynx’s 77-66 victory over the Golden State Valkyries.
The attached clip showed McBride receiving a pass from Lynx guard Courtney Williams and wasting no time shooting a 3-pointer. Her "night, night" gesture came immediately, starting a friendly fire with the Valkyries by imitating Golden State Warriors icon Stephen Curry's signature move.

It seemed like the Valkyries didn’t watch the films and study McBride enough. Leaving that 5’11 guard unguarded at the 3P arc was the biggest mistake they could’ve made, which obviously resulted in McBride shooting 42.9% from 3P, a total of 3-of-7.
And the post-celebration excitement spread among the fans fast.
Fans Hyped Kayla McBride’s move
The 34-year-old Lynx guard is averaging 18.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists this season, with a shooting split of 47/42/91. This marks the best season for McBride, the third-leading 3P shooter (2.9) with a franchise record for 106 3Ps in a season. Hence, the celebration made sense to fans.
“She probably is the only one in the WNBA (besides Clark) that can do this. She got the 3-point record & is shooting 40% from three, if I'm not mistaken,” wrote a fan.
The latest win tied the WNBA-best Lynx to a 5-game winning streak, with a 30-7 record. They’ve got the dynasty and are first-seeded into the playoff berth. So, fans expect nothing less from the team and McBride in the postseason.
“See u in the playoffs, Kayla,” wrote a fan. Another echoed the same sentiment, “We going for the chip this year! Let’s go Lynx.” “Minnesota really got a whole starting lineup of all-stars,” one more comment read. Lastly, “They own this team.”
With roughly a month before the postseason, the Lynx still have some games to play. They drop by Care First Arena to take on the Washington Mystics on August 21 before hosting the Valkyries on August 24.
