Two-time All-Star Caitlin Clark has addressed her thoughts regarding the ongoing criticism after the Indiana Fever beat the Atlanta Dream 83-71 on Thursday.
The Fever lost back-to-back games against the Golden State Valkyries and the Portland Fire on May 28 and May 30, respectively. They lost 90-88 to the Valkyries and 100-84 to the Fire. Clark addressed the critiques after a much-needed win for the Fever.
"I'm gonna say this in the nicest way possible," she said. "But hopefully it makes a lot of people just be quiet."
The criticism came with a few reasons. First, the Fever's poor form, as mentioned earlier. The Fever were also performing poorly on defense, with Stat Muse indicating the Fever allowed 89 points per game before the Atlanta game.
Veteran journalist Jason Whitlock himself criticized Clark and the Fever's defense after their 100-84 loss to the Fire. He also said on June 1, via his podcast, that White was playing the wrong system, where Clark couldn't fit in.
Amid all the turmoil and criticism, this win in the WNBA Commissioner's Cup will surely boost the Fever's confidence. The 2024 Draft overall pick one, and the Fever will now look to focus on the next game.
Catilin Clark and the Fever Look to Continue the Momentum
The Fever will face off against the New York Liberty next, on Saturday, June 6, 2026. The Liberty are currently on a fine run of form, winning three consecutive games.
But with Clark showcasing a brilliant performance in her last game, scoring 17 points, dishing out eight assists, and having seven rebounds, the Fever star will surely look to continue this form.
Not only her, but Kelsey Mitchell has been shining as well, averaging 21.1 points per game so far. She also scored 25 points against the Dream, making it her 47th time to achieve this stat.
The Fever have also worked on their defense, with the team allowing the fewest points in the game against the Dream since September 7, 2025, when they played against the Washington Mystics, beating them 94-65.
The Fever also tops the chart in the WNBA for the most points per game by a team this season, at 90.8. It will be an enticing game to watch, with people eyeing another spectacular performance from Clark.
