The Sophie Cunningham-DiJonai Carrington on-court altercation has taken a controversial turn. As opinions continue to pour in on social media, sports columnist Jason Whitlock has made a wild demand on his post.
In the Saturday, August 8 game against the Indiana Fever, Chicago Sky guard Carrington was assessed a Flagrant 2, resulting in her immediate ejection from the game. In response, the Sky guard alleged racism on her social media post.
As the controversy spread, Whitlock wrote in his X post that "Carrington should never play in the W again."
Carrington hit Fever's Cunningham in the face during a fast-break layup. Seconds later, both players were being separated by teammates to avoid further escalation. Carrington was ejected after review.
This is not the first time that Whitlock has demanded that Carrington be banned from the WNBA.
Last year, he demanded a similar action against the WNBA star after a flagrant foul on Sarah Ashlee Barker in the Sparks vs. Wings game. Carrington appeared to have pulled Barker's hair, and Barker fell on the floor while fighting to position herself.
But it wasn't just Carrington that Whitlock had harsh words for. He also slammed Fever HC Stephanie White for her post-game comments.

Whitlock unleashed a scathing attack on White for her comments in the post-game presser.
While Cunningham suggested that it was intentional, claiming that the Sky player had "pent up stuff," White played it down.
"It was a hard foul," White told reporters after a 90-86 win on Saturday. "I don’t think that DiJonai intentionally came out to get her across the neck like she did, but it did happen, and I thought it was the right call."
Whitlock later responded to the video, demanding that the Fever fire her.
"I will never utter a word in Stephanie White's defense again. Never. She's sick. Must be fired. What a joke," he wrote on X.
Whitlock has previously slammed White for not defending Caitlin Clark. Earlier this season, he also criticized her for her lineup decision.
After the loss to the Minnesota Lynx, the columnist criticized the Fever HC for sitting out Lexie Hull in the second quarter while Olivia Miles went on a scoring run.
