Venus Williams had a jubilant reaction to Serena Williams' comeback after she appeared in the TNT Sports broadcast from the French Open on Tuesday.
Serena will be back on court after a four-year gap, following her appearance at the 2022 US Open. She will now be seen playing at the HSBC Championships at Queen's Club. Venus praised Serena following her comeback.
"She’s, I think, a little bit of a natural. She has a pretty good record. She knows what she’s doing," Venus said. "She’s very tenacious, so I’m not worried about how she’s gonna play, even though I really haven’t seen her play. It’s so crazy."
Earlier, Venus stated that she never really sees Serena on the court. She also replied sarcastically when the reporter asked whether Serena had come to tell her about her comeback.
"I think it was more me bullying her to come — no, not at all. Not at all," She said while laughing. "I never see her on the court that often, so I don’t know when she’s been practicing, honestly. I’m honest. I don’t know how her form is."
The two legendary sisters have won 22 doubles titles together, of which 14 are Grand Slam titles. They have won every Grand Slam tournament multiple times.
Venus has also won seven singles Grand Slam titles in her career, including five Wimbledon titles and two US Open titles. She reached the Australian Open final twice and competed in a French Open final as well.
Serena, on the other hand, is a 23-time Grand Slam champion, winning seven Australian Open and seven Wimbledon titles, along with six US Open and three French Open titles.
The Williams sisters remain central figures in tennis as they both prepare for the upcoming season.
Venus Williams And Serena Williams' Next Chapters
Serena and Venus both look to be active this year, as Serena announced her comeback at the HSBC Championships, starting on June 8. Venus has also played this year's first Grand Slam tournament, the Australian Open.
Venus also recently became the first 45-year-old to play at the US Open since Renée Richards achieved this feat in 1981, when she set the record for the oldest, at 47.
As for Serena, she feels great about her comeback, where she will play doubles with 19-year-old Canadian Victoria Mboko, who admires her.
A seven-time Wimbledon winner, Serena is returning to the grass courts where she built much of her legacy.
"Queen’s Club feels like the perfect place to begin this next chapter," she wrote. "Grass has given me some of the most meaningful moments of my career, and I’m excited to be back competing on one of the sport’s most iconic stages."
This will be Serena's first time returning to court after the 2022 US Open, where she lost in the third round to Australian Ajla Tomljanović.
