Caitlin Clark's stats this season have drawn plenty of attention, and now they are prompting comparisons to the best statistical seasons any point guard has ever put together.
That's the case Ryan Ruocco made on Thursday's episode of the Road Trippin' Show.
"If you look at it by the numbers, you could absolutely make an argument that Caitlin is having the greatest statistical season ever by a point guard in this league," Ruocco said.
Clark's numbers explain why Ruocco felt comfortable making that call. She's putting up 22.1 points and a league-leading 8.3 assists per game, while shooting a career-high 45.0 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from three.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - AUGUST 15: Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell 0 make a strong move to the basket durning a WNBA, Basketball Damen, USA game between the Washington Mystics and the Indiana Fever on August 15, 2025 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN. It's the kind of season that redefines what a point guard's stat line can look like. But the praise wasn't limited to Clark. Ruocco put the entire backcourt in rare company.
"Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell right now are playing as well as any backcourt has in the history of this league," Ruocco added on the Road Trippin' Show via YouTube.
With Caitlin, Ruocco also built a case for Kelsey, as he went a step further and mentioned that even Mitchell is having a solid season on those terms, but as a shooting guard.
"Kelsey is having the greatest statistical season ever by a shooting guard in this league," Ruocco said.
ESPN New York Radio Host backed up the claim by pointing to how long both players have sustained this level, as he believes that the stats are “ridiculous.”
“Kelsey, essentially the entire season, except for maybe the first few games, and now Caitlin for what is like a 15 to 20-game stretch," Ruocco added. “... They are playing like the most explosive backcourt in the history of this league."
Kelsey Mitchell's case is just as strong
At the same time, Mitchell has climbed to a career-high 24.8 points per game, trailing only A'ja Wilson's league-leading 26, and no one in the WNBA has scored more total points than her 861 this season.
She's getting there efficiently too, shooting 51 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from three, while stringing together 23 straight games of 20-plus points.
As per Angelo Guinhawa of Athlon Sports, they have now scored at least 30 points in the same game three times, a WNBA record
Sunday's blowout of Chicago put that all on display. Clark put up 37 points and 10 assists to go with a career-high eight 3s, and Mitchell wasn't far behind with 30 points on 6-of-9 shooting from deep as Indiana rolled to a 113-90 win.
The Fever sit fifth in the standings behind Atlanta, which almost undersells what this offense has become. At 96.6 points per game, Indiana is outscoring everyone in the league, including the top-seeded Lynx.
Standings aside, what Ruocco is pointing to isn't really about rankings. It's two guards playing at a level neither the position nor really the league has seen quite like this before.
