Indiana Fever’s Sophie Cunningham at Center of Stalking Case as Man Faces Charges

An Indiana man is being charged with stalking Indiana Fever basketball player Sophie Cunningham after sending her threatening and explicit messages via social media over the course of several months.

Kevin Singh, 48, was taken into custody on Tuesday and has been charged on Wednesday with felony stalking and intimidation, as well as a misdemeanor harassment charge, the Marion County Prosecutor's Office says.

Cunningham said that due to Singh's ongoing messages, she has been staying at home more and having nightmares.

His alleged actions date back to as early as September 2025, when he personally delivered a package to “Sophie” at Gainbridge Fieldhouse with a letter and a cologne-sprayed Guns N’ Roses T-shirt inside.

He learned about the team security of Cunningham in February 2026, which was when his activities became even more extreme.

On April 30, a cease-and-desist letter was sent to Singh; however, he went ahead to make direct threats through X. "You’re literally down the street from me!" was one such threat.

Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears addressed the case in a statement on Wednesday.

"The internet has made it easier than ever to target, harass, and intimidate others. Threats of violence, whether face-to-face or behind a keyboard, will be taken seriously," Mears said in the Marion County Prosecutor's Office statement. "Coming forward is never easy, regardless of a person's position or public profile. The victim is setting an example by speaking out."

The statement was made against the backdrop of a case whose significance is enhanced by Singh's history. At the moment, Singh is under probation in Hendricks County, Indiana, for committing two counts of felony invasion of privacy, having pleaded guilty in July 2025.

In accordance with the affidavit, the actions by Singh towards Cunningham escalated as a result of the contact he received from team security.

Singh's case is not the first time an Indiana Fever player has been targeted in this way. A similar situation involving teammate Caitlin Clark was resolved in court just months ago.

Caitlin Clark Stalking Case Ends in Prison Sentence for Texas Man

A 55-year-old Texas man was sentenced to two and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to stalking and harassing Clark.

Texas resident Michael Lewis of Denton agreed to plead guilty to one charge of stalking felony and one charge of harassment misdemeanor in Marion County, Indiana.

He was apprehended on January 12 because he reportedly sent hundreds of intimidating messages to Clark between December 12, 2024, and January 11, 2025.

His message IP addresses were traced by the FBI to a downtown Indianapolis hotel and the Indianapolis Public Library.

During an investigation into Lewis’ welfare, he claimed to the officers that he was involved in “an imaginary relationship” with Clark and that he went to Indianapolis for vacation.

Lewis was ordered to have no contact with Clark, banned from Gainbridge Fieldhouse and Fever events, and restricted from internet access during his sentence. He was also recommended for mental health treatment.
