"I'm in awe": Star rookie Olivia Miles reveals what might be her 'welcome to the W' moment

The Minnesota Lynx's star rookie Olivia Miles played one of the best games of her rookie season, and it also proved to be the day she had her "welcome to the WNBA" moment.

The Lynx secured a 108-100 win over the Fever, their 10th consecutive. While Miles led the Lynx on the offensive end, it was Kelsey Mitchell's game that left her stunned, especially in the first half.

"Kelsey Mitchell was really the one who's killing us right now," she said during the halftime interview with ESPN in a video posted by Underdog WNBA on X. "I'm just in awe watching her. This is lowkey my 'welcome to the W' moment. Just trying to guard her."

The Lynx ended the first half with an 11-point lead behind Miles' 23 points. But Mitchell kept the Fever within striking distance with her 23 points. She punished the Lynx defense while Miles was the primary defender on her.

"It's so fun. We have respect for each other, so it's fun," Miles added, per a video posted by Underdog WNBA on X.

Mitchell dominated the first half, scoring 16 in Q1 before cooling slightly with 7 in Q2. She entered the third period having shot 9 of 13 from the field, including 4-4 from the 3-point line.

Mitchell ended the game with a game-high 37 points, shooting 14-21 from the field, including 6-8 from the 3-point line. But it wasn't enough against the Lynx's elite offensive game behind Miles and Courtney Williams.

In yet another game, Olivia Miles proved that she was the best rookie in 2026 and why she was one of the MVP candidates.

Miles scored a team-high 28 points and 6 assists in 32 minutes. The Lynx rookie shot 11-14 from the field and 3-6 from beyond the arc.

Courtney Williams followed up Miles' scoring with 27 points. She shot 12-of-20 from the field and 2-of-4 from the 3-point line.

Minnesota star Napheesa Collier contributed 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists in 31 minutes, anchoring the Lynx defense. It was only her third game of the season.

All of the Lynx's starters scored in double digits, with Natasha Howard and Kyla McBride contributing 13 and 10 points, respectively.
